To install ES56V-X drivers for Win NT 4.0:

-If modem was previously installed on PC, follow the Remove instructions,
 before attempting a new installation.

-Switch to drive A: and run SETUP.EXE.

-Make a note of the settings allocated by NT for use by the modem, example:
	"Config Port:	800h;
	 DSP Port:	808h;
	 IRQ 9,	COM4.

-If you want to change the COM port or IRQ or Address, do it at this time.

-Click OK twice to exit this setup stage.

-Open MyComputer, ControlPanel, Modems, Add, Next. Let NT look for ESS modem.

-If NT found ESS modem, choose Next to let NT install modem. Do not make any
 changes at this time.
 If NT did not find the modem, cancel installation, redo removal steps
 before reinstalling again.
 If the settings offered do not match the allocated settings, please
 follow NT's advice or redo the Remove instructions and reinstall again.

-Under ModemProperties you might want to change Maximun speed to 115200.

To remove ES56V-X that has been previously installed under NT4.0:

-From MyComputer, Control Panel, Devices. Find and STOP "EDS Port Driver";

-From MyComputer, Control Panel, Modems, ESS ES56V-X..., Remove, OK;

-Run Regedit. Select LocalMachine\System\CurrentControlSet\Service\EdspPort.
 Del EDSPPORT folder.

-Modem has been removed.

To Change COM port or other resource under NT4.0:

- Remove modem

- Install modem with required resource.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
