  Getting Started
  ---------------
  The following example illustrates the installation of the adapter
  card.  
  It is recommended that you complete the Windows XP installation prior
  to inserting the adapter card into the system.

  Insllation procedure
  ---------------------
  1.  Turn off your computer and plug the adapter into an 
      available PCI slot in your computer.

  2.  Turn on the power of your computer to boot the system.

      Windows XP will install the NIC using an existing generic driver. You will
      now need to update the driver so that the NIC is using the correct one. 
      Click Windows Start, Settings, and then Control Panel. Click Switch to 
      Classic View and then double-click System. Click the Hardware tab and then 
      click Device Manager. Double-click Network Adapters and then double-click 
      the Realtek Ethernet Adapter. 
           
        
  3.  Click on the Driver tab then Click "Update Driver"
      
  4.  Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device (Recommended)"
      and click "Next".    
      
  6.  Select the "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)"
      and click "Next".        
      
  7.  Insert the Installation CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
      Select only "Don't Search. I will choose the driver to install" option and click Next.  Click Have Disk, then type "D:\Winxp" If your CD-ROM drive uses a different letter, type 
      that letter in place of “D.” 
      then,click "OK"
      then,click "next"
      If the Windows Logo 
      testing screen appears, then click "Continue Anyway"
    
  8.  Click "Finish" to complete the installation.        
      
      Windows XP is ready to network afterwards.  It is not necessary
      to reboot the system to start networking.  You can now remove the 
      Installation CD-ROM.

  Additional Information
  ----------------------
  To futher customize the system, you can click My Network Places at
  the desktop. Examples of parameters that you can change are computer 
  and workgroup names, IP addresses, and additional network services.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
