  Getting Started
  ---------------
  The following example illustrates the installation of the adapter
  card.  
  It is recommended that you complete the Windows 2000 installation prior
  to inserting the adapter card into the system.

  Insllation procedure
  ---------------------
  1.  Turn off your computer and plug the adapter into an 
      available PCI slot in your computer.

  2.  Turn on the power of your computer to boot the system.

      Windows 2000 will install the NIC using an existing generic driver. You 
      will now need to update the driver so that the NIC is using the correct one. 
           
  3.  Click Windows Start, Settings, and then Control Panel. Double-click System, 
      click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager. Double-click 
      Network Adapters and then double-click the Realtek Ethernet Adapter in the list.
        
  4.  Click on the Driver tab, then Click "Update Driver"
      
  5.  Click "Next"
      Select the "Search for a suitable diver for my device (recommended)"
      and click "Next".          
      
  6.  Insert the Installation CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
      Select only "Specify a location" option and click "Next".
      Type "D:\" and click OK. If your CD-ROM drive uses a different letter, type that letter in place of “D.”
  
  8.  When Windows locates the correct driver, Click "Next".
      A "Digital Signature Not Found" window may pop up indicating that a    
      Microsoft digital signature does not exist.  Click "Yes" to continue with the installation
      
  
  9.  Click "Finish" to complete the installation. After the driver installation is complete, remove the Installation CD-ROM from your       CD-ROM drive and click Finish. You may then be prompted to restart your computer. If       you are, click Yes and your computer will restart to complete the installation       procedure.       
      

  Additional Information
  ----------------------
  To futher customize the system, you can click My Network Places at
  the desktop. Examples of parameters that you can change are computer 
  and workgroup names, IP addresses, and additional network services.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
