Here are the drivers and the amended inf file ov519.inf to let you use your eye toy as a very good webcam on your pc for both vision and sound, and also the application files to use it as an avi video and still capture camera. The files will work for both the black ps2 eye toy model SLEH-00031 and the silver ps2 eye toy model SCEH-0004. If however you have the older black ps2 eye toy model SLEH-0030 then first rename the inf file ov519.inf to ov519.bak and the text file ov519.txt to ov519.tx2, then rename the inf file ov519.old to ov519.inf and the text file ov519.tx1 to ov519.txt you can then attach the eye toy to a usb port and when prompted load the drivers from this folder. System Requirements Windows XP/Me/2000/98SE One Available USB Port Pentium 450MHz or Equivalent or Above 64MB RAM Here are some Questions and anwers concerning the Sony eye toy. Question: How do I load the eye toy drivers. Anwer: To load the drivers first Unzip the sony eye toy driver folder. Next Plug the eyetoy in, and when the "found new hardware eyetoy USB camera Namtai" box comes up, un tick every box except the "install from a list or specific location" box, next browse to the c:\sony eye toy\sony eye toy sub folder you extracted the files to or the one you chose if different, then click the ok box. you will be shown the driver choice Sony eye toy USB webcam ver 220.127.116.11, chose these drivers and click next. a message stating "these drivers have not passed logo testing" will appear, click the continue anyway box. The drivers will start to load, if however the install stops durring the install with the message that it cannot find a files usually a xxx.dll file then just browse to the Sony eye toy folder again, chose the file it is looking for and then click ok, the drivers will then continue loading. During the installation, you'll get a system box with ???? in it... click on it, this will then bring up the 50Hz/60Hz electricity mains frequency option setting this is to reduce flicker on the display of your web camera, caused by incandecent light fittings in your room, due to the frequency of your countrys mains. When the choice comes up set it to 50Hz if in Europe. The install will now continue until completion. Please note!, you can also read the dsbc310_QIG_10.pdf file (supplied by D-Link Multimedia, included in the driver folder), for more information on installing your Sony eye toy camera. If you cannot open this pdf file then go to http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html to down load the latest Adobe Reader program. You must substitute the words Sony eye toy wherever you read the words D-Link VGA webcam in the document, also note where the document asks you to load the drivers from the CDrom first before pluging in the camera, you must instead plug the camera in first, and then when it say's "install the software automaticaly (Recommended)" you untick this box and chose "install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" box instead, then you click next and then you browse to your eye toy driver folder and chose the OV519.INF file. The rest of the install is the same for both cameras. If however the install stops durring the install with the message that it cannot find a files usually a xxx.dll file then just browse to the Sony eye toy folder again, chose the file it is looking for and then click ok, the drivers will then continue loading. Very important! you will not get tech support from D-Link Multimedia as the Sony eye toy camera is not one of there devices. Question: How do I view my cameras video output, or record video or take a still photo. Anwer: Once the web camera is installed, you can use the software that is included in the driver folder, to view your webcam output, It is called vidcap32.exe and is supplied by Microsoft for free. This is a camera recording program. When you run it you will see a still picture from your webcam of the first thing the webcam saw when you started the program vidcap32.exe. If you then click the options tab and then tick preview you will then get a continuous live feed from the camera. You can then go to the capture tab and chose single frame, frames or video as your choice and it will record the one you chose. Play around with the settings under the edit and options tabs to set you camera up to your personal preferences, and also under the video options chose how long a video recording should be. Don't forget to go to the file tab and chose "save captured video as" option and then give your video or selection of frames a file name, the file will be given an automatic file extension choice of .avi, if you want to save your single frame instead then under the file tab chose the drop down choice of "save single frame" the picture will be given the file extension of .dib by the program but you can use .bmp or .jpg as the file extension instead if you wish and it will save the frame in the correct format for you (it is a neat little program). Don't forget to chose what folder you are saving to when you save, so that you know where your video and pictures have been saved to. Also note the camera records sound while it records video if you so wish. Question: How do I use my camera as a webcam. Anwer: Once the drivers are installed and the camera is working properly (tested using vidcap32.exe) then you can use Microsoft Netmeeting or Microsoft MSN messanger version 6 or 7 or any other video conference software suplied by a third party such as AOL ect. and when you are connected you can then click on the camera icon and chose your Sony eye toy as the webcam device. Question: how do I get the eye toy microphone to work. Anwer: The eye toy has a usb microphone and as such has no audio volume control as a webcam, but it does have very good audio characteristics and records very well, If you use the correct drivers. Once the webcam is installed if you have Windows XP then go to the Start icon, control panel, system, hardware, device manager. In device manager go to sound video and game controllers and select USB audio device and then on the general tab check that location 0 says eyetoy USB camera Namtai. If it does then you have a working eye toy usb microphone installed, then exit out. Then go to the Start icon, control panel, sound and audio devices, then go to the audio tab, then in the sound recording "default device" box chose eye toy USB camera Namtai as the recording device rather than your sound card microphone input click apply and ok then exit out. Your programs will then use the USB microphone on the eye toy as the input microphone instead of your sound card input. Question: My camera is not recognised when I plug it in, or it used to work but does not work now. Anwer: Once you have loaded drivers for a USB device even though they may be the wrong ones, they will be used every time you plug the device in again, and you will then not be able to load the correct drivers. To get round this you must first delete the wrong drivers from your pc before you install the correct ones. To do this, first make sure the eye toy is plugged into its USB port Then for XP go to the Start icon, control panel, system, hardware, device manager. In device manager, first go to Imaging devices and select USB webcam and then on the general tab check that location 0 says eyetoy USB camera Namtai. If it does remove the device. Select no to reboot if asked. Then go to sound video and game controllers and select USB audio device and then on the general tab check that location 0 says eyetoy USB camera Namtai. If it does remove the device. Select no to reboot if asked. Then go to USB controllers and select USB composite device and then on the general tab check that location 0 says eyetoy USB camera Namtai. If it does remove the device. Select no to reboot if asked. Now unplug the eye toy and then reboot the pc. After the reboot you can plug the eye toy back in and reload the drivers when prompted but please note chose the "install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" box and install from your Sony eye toy driver folder, not the "install the software automaticaly (Recommended)" box as you will just re install the wrong drivers again otherwise. Question: Video is blurry. Anwer: Turn the focus ring until the image clears up. If focus rings turns freely with no adjustments being made, you may have a defective unit. Please take it back to point of purchase. Question: Video is choppy. Anwer: If you have an older video card or very slow processor you may need to upgrade hardware to view a decent streaming video image. Always make sure your computer meets the system requirements for the product you are trying to use. Question: Video is Dark Anwer: Make sure there is adequate lighting around the subject you are trying to record. Low lighting will result in poor quality or Image. Question: I cannot hear playback Anwer: Go into your volume control settings and make sure that the Mute box is not checked for your Microphone or Volume control settings. Make sure your connection to the sound card is secure. Question: Cannot Connect to Conex Server Anwer: The Conex server is no longer online. Contact Smith Micro for further information at http://www.smithmicro.com Question: How do I use my eye toy as a motion detection webcam. Anwer: You can download a 30 day free trial of the webcam motion detector software Crime Catcher ver 3.1 at http://www.crime-catcher.com/ then try it out for yourself. Once you have installed the software and started it, you will then have the Crime Catchers video display open but the screen will be blank. To get a video image on the display you then have to click on the detection button at the top of the blank video display window and then chose "options" from the drop down menu, then go to camera 1 image properties then change the choice in the capture device drop down box on the right of the setup panle from it default setting of "no device selected" to the new choice of "%USB\VID_05A9&PID_8519.DeviceDesc%" instead which is the XP USB camera description for the eye toy camera. When you do so the small black box just below the capture device drop down box will change to a video feed from your camera. Click OK and you will go back to the Crime Catchers video display but instead of a blank screen you will have a video feed from your camera. You will have to read the help files for any other information you need about using this software. Question: How do I setup my eye toy to be used as a webcam in Yahoo Messenger Anwer: Once you know the camera is working make sure you close any programs accessing the camera as only one program can use it at a time. Start Yahoo! Messenger and go to the "messenger tab" at the top of the screen the one next to the "view tab". Click on the "messenger tab" and then chose "start my webcam" from the drop down menu. Click ok on the warning message and you will then get the "my webcam (yahoo i.d.)" video box come up on your desktop with a live video feed appearing in the box. If the box is blank then click the file tab at the top of the box, then chose the preferences from the drop down menu then webcam from the preferences drop down menu. Now click the Camera source button and check that its drop down box is set to %USB\VID_05A9&PID_8519.DeviceDesc% if not then highlight it then chose ok as this is your XP eye toy web camera description. This will bring you back to the preference page, then click ok to close the page and this will bring you back to the "my webcam (yahoo i.d.)" video box but this time you should see a live feed in the box from your eye toy. Hope this makes it easier for you, best regards Ed.Download Driver Pack
