Instructions.txt Driver File Contents (Zoltrix_33_600_HSP_Modem.zip)

These instructions are for installation of PCI Zoltrix WinHSP Modem 33.600. Driver version 2.15, of August 1996. Works with Pentium 100MHZ and up, and Cyrix 100MHZ and up. 


WILL NOT WORK WITH AMD PROCESSORS.


Copy all the files to a floppy disk or a CD. Then follow the instructions:

1. Control Panel
2. Add new hardware. Do not allow Windows to look for a driver. Instead, choose from a list. Choose Ports (COM & LPT1) from the scroll menu. click Next.
3. From the next screen, choose Standard Communication Port. click on HAVE DISK and point to the A: drive or to the Cd Rom containing the drivers. 
4. Choose PCTel HSP Modem Communication Port. Click on NEXT.
5. Do not change anything on the next windows. Just click NEXT.
6. When Windows prompts you to restart the computer, say NO.
7. Go back to Control Panel and click on Modem icon. On Windows XP, choose Phone and Modem Options.
8. Windows will ask you if you want Windows to look for installed hardware. Choose NOT to detect modem.
9. From the following list of hardware, choose Standard Modem, and click on HAVE DISK.
10. Point to the floppy disk or CD containing drivers.
11. Choose HSP-288 Modem (Not PNP HSP288 Modem). Click on NEXT.
12. From the following window, choose PCTel HSP Modem Com Port 4. Click on NEXT.
13. Click on FINISH.
14. Reboot Windows.
15. Navigate to Control Panel and click on the modem icon to check status of modem.

Note: If Windows gives you a message that it Cannot Open Port, change some com port of some piece of hardware, usually serial mouse.

This modem is excellent for Fax Services.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
