RDC-7 Camera Utility for Windows


This software connects the RDC-7 digital camera to a computer via a serial or USB 
interface, downloads files from the camera memory, and returns EXIF files on the disk 
drive of the computer to the camera.

=System environments=

Compatible digital camera : RDC-7
Operating system : Windows 95, Windows 98, WindowsMe, Windows NT4.0, Windows 2000 (English version)
Memory:Windows 95/98/Me   32MB (96MB or more is recommended)
       Windows NT4.0   64MB (96MB or more is recommended)
       Windows 2000   128MB (256MB or more is recommended)
       Connection port:	Serial, USB ( Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000 only)

 =Note=
To connect via USB, install the "RDC-7 USB Driver" separately.
(Use the dedicated cable included in the package.)


1.Installation

To install, browse through the bundled CD-ROM using "Add or delete applications" 
on the Control Panel, and select "Setup.exe" from the "disk1" folder inside the 
"CameraUtility" folder on the CD-ROM.


2.How to use

(1)Connecting the camera to a computer
Connect the computer and the RDC-7 digital camera with the USB or serial cable.

= Note =
*When connected via USB, the camera stays in standby mode regardless of 
the position of the mode dial on the camera .

*To connect the camera via serial (RS232-C), turn the mode dial on the 
camera to the "SET" position and select "SERIAL TRANSFER" to set the 
camera to connection standby mode.
 
(2)Select "CameraUtility" from the program to start.

= Explanation of buttons =
*Camera Type:  Select RDC-7.
*Transmission speed : Set to the speed for serial connection.
*COM port : Select the port to connect the camera from among "COM1 - 4" and "USB".
*Copy from Camera : Copy files in the camera to the computer disk drive.
*Copy to Camera : Copy files in the camera format on the computer disk drive to the camera.

(3)"Copy from Camera" window

Pressing the "Copy from Camera" button opens the file selection panel.

= Explanation of file selection panel buttons =
*Displaying thumbnails: Check to display thumbnails.
*"CARD" "MEMORY": Select memory.
*Select all: Select all the files in the selected memory.
*Select: Select one file displayed on the camera LCD monitor.
*Release all: Cancels all file selections.
*View and Select: Display the list of thumbnails (3 x 3) and select files.
*Specification of file No.: Specify the files to display by number.
*Copying selected pictures: Copy the selected files to the computer disk drive.
*Memo: User comments as specified in EXIF can be entered in the displayed file.


(4)Downloading files to the computer

Select the memory in which the file you want to download exists from Memory 
(internal memory) and CARD (Smart Media).

While viewing the monitor on the camera, move forward or backward using the buttons
 to display the file to be downloaded, and then press the "Select" button to select.

Press the "View and Select" button to display the list and allow selection of the 
file to be downloaded using the mouse.

Pressing the "Copying selected pictures" button starts downloading the files.


(5)"Copy to Camera" window

Press the "Copy to Camera" button to open the file selection screen.
Select the file format of the file to be copied from among EXIF (*.JPG), J6I (*.J6I), 
Audio (*.WAV), and Movie (*.AVI). 
Pressing the "Start Copying" button starts copying.

= Note =
Only Audio and Movie files recorded by the RDC-7 can be copied back to the camera.


3.Precautions
(1)To use the RDC-7 on the USB port, the USB driver must be installed beforehand.

(2)The flash lamp (red) blinks while data is being transmitted to/from the 
computer. Do not disconnect the cable or switch off the camera while data is 
being transmitted. The camera or computer may be adversely affected. If the 
cable is inadvertently detached while data is being transmitted, switch on the 
camera and computer again.

(3)Do not use a battery for the camera, and use the AC adapter instead. The 
camera or computer may be adversely affected if the power supply fails during 
operation.


End User License Agreement

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
