v90pcifl.txt Driver File Contents (v90pcifl.zip)

The File v90pcifl.exe is a firmware update that fixes a know problem 
with the V.90 PCI modem Part number 33L4618. The problem only occurs 
when using this modem in a Windows 2000 environment. The system will
hang when there is not a communications program loaded, and any 
incoming call is made to the phone line that is attached to the modem. 
Follow the instruction below to download and install this firmware.


Downloading the update
----------------------

1.  Double-click the My Computer icon, then double-click on the
C drive icon.
2.  Click on the File menu, highlight New, then click on Folder.
3.  Name the new folder V90PCIFL and press Enter.
4.  Click the file link named v90pcifl.exe to download the file from 
the Web page.
5.  When prompted, save the file to the C:\V90PCIFL directory that was 
just created. 

Installing the update
----------------------
1.  Click Start, highlight Search, then click For Files and Folders. 
2.  Type v90pcifl.exe in the search box, then click Find Now. This 
will locate the v90pcifl.exe file you just downloaded. 
3.  Double-click the icon for v90pcifl.exe, then close the 
Finished - V90PCIFL window that appears on your screen.
4.  Double-click the Flash32 icon in the C:\V90PCIFL directory. A 
welcome screen will appear. 
5.  Click Next. The program will search for installed modems. 
6.  When prompted to select the modem to be upgraded, click 
IBM V.90 PCI Data Fax Modem. 
7.  In the baud rate field, select 115200, then click Next. 
8.  Click Browse, click c620t3h2.hex, then click Open. 
9.  Verify that the firmware image to be loaded is 
C:\V90PCIFL\c620t3h2.hex, then click Finish. 
10.  Click Finish. Please be patient while the firmware is being 
updated. 
11.  When a message stating that the flash loading has completed 
successfully, click Close. A warning message will appear. 
12.  Click OK and ensure that all windows are closed. 
13.  Click Start, click Shut Down, select Shut Down, then click OK. 

Note: The modem will not function until the computer has been 
restarted.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
