Readme.txt for 9115/9210 Server-Flash BIOS

Bios Version: SE7210TP10.15A.P.04.10.0030
Build Date: June 23, 2004

Perform the following steps to update the BIOS on a 9115/9210 server. Two blank, formatted floppy disks are required.

Note: Before attempting a BIOS flash, first enter the system BIOS (<F2> on boot) and note all settings so they can be
re-applied after the flash has been completed. The update restores the BIOS to the default settings.

1. Insert a blank high-density floppy disk into the floppy disk drive.

2. From the Start menu, click Run. In the Run dialog box, type: Sys A:\. Press ENTER. This creates a bootable disk. Label this disk "Disk 1".

Note: To make a bootable disk, make the floppy disk on a computer running Windows 95 or Windows 98.

3. Insert Disk 2. Extract the BIOS update files and copy them to this floppy disk. Label this disk "Disk 2". Make sure that you are extracting these files from the same computer you created the boot disk with. This ensures that the file system type is the same on both disks.

4. Insert Disk 1, and then boot the server.

NOTICE: If you are updating from BIOS revision P01 to this new BIOS revision, it is important to follow the Boot Block update instructions below.

5. When the server has finished booting and displays an A:\ command prompt, remove Disk 1 and then insert Disk 2. Run f.bat or fbb.bat (depending if the bootblock needs to be updated).
 - f.bat : Updates system ROM only, but bootblock does not change.
 - fbb.bat: Updates both system ROM and bootblock.

Note: If running fbb.bat, jumper J1D1 'BIOS FLASH WP' should set to pins 2-3 to enable bootblock write. Jumper J1D1 'BIOS FLASH WP' should be set back to pins 1-2 once update is complete.

6. When the BIOS update is complete, it will return to the command prompt.

7. Remove any floppy disk from the floppy disk drive then reboot the server.

8. Press the F2 key to enter the system BIOS. Set the date, time, boot priority, and any other changed settings noted prior to the update. Press the F10 key to save the settings and exit.

Note: If you encounter a CMOS checksum error message after the BIOS update, restart the server, and then press F2 to enter the BIOS Setup Utility. Check your settings, then save and exit.
