Gateway 955/975 Series Server Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) Firmware Version 1.19 (Bootblock Version 0.15)
Release Notes - June 12, 2003

Introduction

This document applies to the firmware used in the Gateway 955/975 server Baseboard Management Controller (BMC). File SWV2_119.HEX is used by the FWPIAUPD utility to update the BMC code on a running server.

Dependencies

The version of BMC on your server must be at least 1.13 or later before updating to BMC 1.19. The FRU & SDR package version must be 5.5.6 or later. Only the SDRs need to be updated, it is not necessary to update any FRUs. It is suggested that the SDRs be updated before the BMC.

ISSUES CORRECTED WITH THIS RELEASE

BMC version 1.19 (Bootblock version 0.15)
Bootblock checksum: 1ABBh Opcode checksum: 3430h

- A watchdog timer expiration would not cause an LED indication on the Telco Alarm Panel.

- BMC 1.13 extended the SMI Timeout sensor timeout value from 10 to 90 seconds. However, under certain circumstances the BMC would still use a 10 second timeout.

- Previous BMCs did not parse Telco-specific OEM SDR records correctly.

- The IPMI "Get FRU Info" command would return the size of the memory device used for FRU storage, rather than the size allocated for FRU data. Note that the effects of this are only visible on the Telco DC power supply FRU.

- If a DIMM failed, the baseboard DIMM indicator LED would light, but the front panel LED would not indicate that the system was in a degraded state.

- Once the BMC boosted the fans for a fan failure, and the fan was fixed, the BMC would leave the fans in boost after receiving an IPMI "Rearm Sensor" command.
