=====================

MegaRAID SCSI 320-1 (520)
MegaRAID SCSI 320-2 (518)

Firmware Changes:
================

1. Power Console Plus was show the rebuilds as FAILED after resuming power from hibernation. This was fixed.

2. When a FAILED drive, which is part of a redundant array, is removed and another drive is inserted, auto rebuild did not start sometimes. This was fixed.

3. Fixed a timing issue to decrease the time the Firmware takes to access a malfunctioning hard drive.

4. Some Seagate drives generate CRC errors if the requests are not "4 byte" aligned. This was fixed.

5. Fixed the firmware so that it will abort the check consistency procedure before it can accept any new configurations.

6. Fixed a firmware resource issue when multiple rebuilds are present.

7. Fixed the way the hard drive request commands.

8. The firmware is encountering an error condition because an internal queue is too small. This condition occurs under heavy IO conditions when multiple rebuilds are active or multiple degraded logical drives exist. This was fixed.

9. MS-DOS partitions failed with the Write Back Policy enabled. This was fixed.

10. The firmware was automatically taking the NVRAM configurations and starting the Background initialization process even when normal mismatches would occur. This was fixed.

11. When you remove 1 hotspare out of 2, the second hotspare does not start rebuilding. This was fixed.

12. When running heavy I/Os and failing a disk, a disk-NVRAM mismatch occurs. This was fixed.

13. When running heavy I/Os and no battery exits, the existent cache does not get flushed. This was fixed.

14. When the power to a drive is suddenly shut down, the firmware does not respond. This is fixed.

15. Some Fujitsu drives do not respond when running heavy I/Os which causes random media error messages. This was fixed.

Firmware Enhancements:
=====================

1. Added GAM2003 utility support for to LSI Generic FW MegaRAID SCSI -2, -1 and -0 (518, 520, and ZCR respectively).

-- Support the GAM command protocol.
-- Support GAM commands.
-- Implement GAM event logging.

2. Added a Patrol Read Feature. This feature is used to find and possible resolve medium errors from the physical drives prior host access. This would enhance the overall system performance as error recovery during a normal I/O operation. This interface will enable the users to start/stop, to run in auto/manual mode and provide other important information.

3. Added Inconsistency Error Log during Check Consistency Progress in the no restoration mode. This screen allows you to note the LD#, the #of inconsistent rows, and the list of the starting LBAs of the rows in Power Console Plus version 5.00g.

4. Added background initialization for the RAID 1 and for the RAID 5 (with 3 or more drives) which will fix media errors for certain rebuild situations when the initialization process was not complete.

5. Enabled the MPT pre-compensation feature (PPR parameter).

6. Added a TEMP_OFFLINE_RAID log in the NVRAM Event log to log all failed physical drives that changed to online.

7. Enhanced the Consistency Check no restoration feature to include the following features:

-- If double error (un-recoverable media errors) occurs, log error and continue Consistency Check.
-- Stop Consistency Check if any non-medium error (physical device error) occurs.
-- If any uncorrected errors are found, no Background Initialization (current or reboot) will start for that logical drive until corrective action was taken. (Previously the Background Initialization process started after reboot on LDs who are inconsistent after CCNR)

BIOS Enhances/Bug Fixes:
=======================

1. Added support to enter Ctrl-M utility using the <ENTER> key. The user can still enter Ctrl-M using the <CTRL><M> keys also.

2. When RAID BIOS reboots (i.e. jump to ROM POST code); the register was not clearing properly. This was causing difficulties on some systems. This was fixed.

3. In a system with BIOS Boot Services (BBS), the BIOS was always reading the first controller's BIOS Private. This was fixed.

Ctrl-M Enhancements/Bug Fixes:
=============================

1. Change 'timeout period' for SCSI FORMAT command to NOTIMEOUT value 4 (per SCSI Passthru Command interface requirement of MegaRAID card).

2. The "Check Consistency" options in the main menu and the logical drive menu was missing. Also, the "View/Update Parameters" option in the logical drive menu was missing. These items were fixed.

3. The CTR-M utility was hanging on the 320-1 controller. This was fixed.

4. Moved the Battery related options to Adapter Menu.

5. Added support for the SATA 150-4 adapter.

WebBIOS Enhancements:
====================

1. WebBios Engine 2.27 -- Removed the CTRL-M option for some customers.

2. Grayed out the Cluster option for the 320-0 ZCR controller.

3. When a RAID 1 (degraded) logical drive is selected for migration by adding 1 or more physical drives, the migration process would take place. This is a bad reconstruction situation which should not be allowed. This operation is not allowed and if you attempt to perform this illegal operation, you will get an error message.

4. Changed the Qtag schedule to report properly.

5. Added some defaults for specific customers only.

6. The battery status “Missing” is replaced by the word “None”.

7. During hard drive configuration setup, if arrays are spanned, it would not proceed. This was fixed.

8. The physical drive low level format option was restored.

Boot Block Enhancements/Bug Fixes:
=================================

1. Added support for 256 MB memory module.

2. Fixed TBBU ECC error handling issues.

3. Modify boot block not to use first 16 bytes of cache memory.

Known Limitations:
=================

To make sure the functions are initialized/working properly:

1. Set factory default after this FW is flashed.

2. Use Power Consoler Plus version 5.00g or later

3. Use GAM version 5.00-47 or later

4. Windows Drivers that needs to be used:

 Windows 2000: version 5.41 or later
 Windows XP: version 6.34 or later
 Windows Server 2003 (32-bit): version 6.34 or later
 Windows Server 2003 (64-bit): version 6.34 or later

5. GAM 2003 displays the adapter’s number in 0-based (starting with adapter 0) while LSI generic PCP, CTRL-M and WebBIOS display adapter number in 1-based (starting with adapter 1). This is a limitation in current released GAM2003, PCP, CTRL-M, and WebBIOS. Older GAM version does not support LSI MegaRAID 320 –2, -1 and –0 controllers.

Installation:
======================

Note: You must make sure you are flashing this firmware to a MegaRAID SCSI 320-1/320-2 Controller from LSI Logic Corporation.

Boot to an MS-DOS command prompt, and then type MFLASH. Your MegaRAID Controller should be detected and you are prompted to continue with the flash utility.

Do not reboot your system until the flash process is complete.
