EMDIAG Diagnostics ---------------------------------------- The Adaptec Diagnostics Program runs with MS-DOS version 3.3 or later. Before running the Adaptec Diagnostics Program, boot the system to MS-DOS using the F-5 key to bypass the AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files. From the Main Menu of EMDIAG, you can make one of the following selections: Configuration Status Reports the resources in use by the Adaptec PCI adapter. This option is useful for determining if your adapter is recognized your system. Diagnostics Contains options for Local, Remote and Echo Server. These options provide the ability to run both local and remote diagnostics, and to set up the Adaptec adapter for use as an Echo Server. PCI Device Provides resource and Information configuration information about all of the PCI devices installed in your system. Readme Viewer Allows you to view the Adaptec README.TXT file located in the root of the Adaptec setup diskette. Technical Support Provides contact information for Adaptec Technical Support. Exit Allows you to return to the DOS prompt. EMDIAG Startup Options ---------------------------------------- EMDIAG includes some startup parameters to help you get the most out of this utility. These startup parameters are described below, and can be viewed on-screen by typing "EMDIAG /?" followed by an <ENTER>. /t:<value> Runs the transmit test in local and remote diagnostics <value> * thousand times. /v:<value> For the ANA-6911 and ANA-6911A as well as the ANA6944 and ANA6944A adapters. Selects the adapter speed, where <value> should be set to "10" for 10 Mbps and "100" for 100 Mbps. /x:<string> Allows the selection of a particular transceiver to be diagnosed on the Adaptec adapter. The possible values for <string> are "thin", "utp", "thick", "tx" and "t4" EMDIAG Error Messages ---------------------------------------- In addition to the information described above, EMDIAG provides the following text messages to help you setup and configure your Adaptec PCI adapter. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
