  Before You Begin
  ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks for choosing the Combo PCMCIA EthernetCard from Linksys. Before
attempting to install the card, we highly recommend that you read
the User Guide that came with your card in order to install both your
PCMCIA socket & card services AND your network driver.

  Regular Setup
  ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Follow the steps below to install the EthernetCard for
use with Windows for Workgroups. Make sure that
your computer's PCMCIA services have already been
  installed before you proceed.

  1. In the Windows Program Manager, open the
Network group. Double-click on the Network Setup
icon. Click on the Networks button. Select Install
       Microsoft Network, then click OK.

  2. Click on the Sharing button. Check the appropriate
I want... buttons to give others access to your files
and printers. When you're finished, click OK.

  3. Click on the Drivers button. Choose Add Adapter,
followed by Unlisted or Updated Network
       Adapter. Click OK.

  4. Put the EthernetCard disk into drive A. When asked
to supply the path to the disk, type a:\ and press
       Enter. When Linksys PCMCIA EthernetCard
appears in the window, click OK.

  5. When the Network Drivers window reappears, click
on close. The Network Setup window will reappear.
Double-click on the adapter. Verify that the IRQ
and other settings are correct. The settings you
choose should be the same settings that were chosen
when you installed your PCMCIA socket & card
services. For more information about IRQ and
memory I/O settings, see page 8. When finished,
       click OK.

  6. Enter your user name, the workgroup name, and the
computer name. If you don't know what these are,
see your Window user guide or contact your network
administrator. When finished, click OK. Note: the
workgroup name must be correct or your PC won't
be able to see any of the other computers in the
       workgroup.

  7. Windows will copy necessary network files to your
computer. When asked to restart your PC, choose to
do so. After Windows restarts, be sure to log in.

Look at the EthernetCard's cable coupler. If your
cabling is properly attached and the network is
detected, the green Link light will be on, and the
amber Activity (ACT) light will be flickering or
solid. The Link light is for use with twisted-pair
(10BaseT) cabling only. If you are using thin coax
(10Base2) cabling, the Link LED won't light up.

The installation is complete. You can now access the
network at large through the Windows File Manager.

    If You Have Problems

If you don't see the card's LEDs light up, you should:

    1. Check your cabling.

    2. Verify that your PC has socket and card services
         installed

    3. Try changing the IRQ value that the EthernetCard is
using. To do this, double-click on the Network
Setup icon in the Program Manager. Double-click
on Linksys. Make sure that the settings are correct.
         Change any as necessary.

field to exit the screen. Back to step 11.

       13. Select "Novell Netware Server" as the network server you
will attach to and press Enter.

       14. INSTALL starts copying related files from the
diskette to the destination directory and modifies your
           AUTOEXEC.BAT and NET.CFG.

       15. The installation is complete. Reboot the computer to
have the driver take effect. Use the File Manager to
           access the network's drives.
