RELEASE.TXT Driver File Contents (amdnic_1.zip)

This directory contains a series of files that constitute the AMD
PCnet Family DMI Installation utility. This program is provided more
as an example than a full featured installation utility. It can be
used as the basis for your own installation development efforts. The
program is built using the following components:

        1.  Microsoft Visual C++ v1.52 (from the Visual C++ v2.2 CD-ROM).
        2. The DMI SDK v2.0.

Six source files comprise the source code. They are:

        1. DOSINSUI.CPP/(.HPP) - The core of the user interface.
        2. DOSINS.H - Miscellaneous shared definitions.
        3. SCAN.C - The MIF file scanner.
        4. MIFUPDT.C - The core logic for MIF file editing.
        5. DOIT.CPP - Interface to the DMI libraries, invocation
                                  of the MIF scanner routines.

All of the make and project files required to build the program are included
in this subdirectory.

To build the program from the source files, copy the subdirectory to your
hard disk. Invoke VC++ and open the DMINSTL project. Select "Rebuild All
DMINSTL.EXE" from the "Project" menu.

Note that the DMINSTL directory has been changed since the last release.
The PCNET.DMY directory has been removed along with various dummy files
previously used to run the DMINSTL executable file from within the build
directory. To test DMINSTL.EXE, it is now necessary to either move it to
a directory containing the files PCNET.MIF, PCNET.EXE, PCNET.DLL and
PCNET.OVL or to move those files to the build directory. This change was
effected to prevent these debug files from actually migrating to a working
system and causing unexpected behavior.
