Installation Guide for Adaptec PCI Adapters
and Microsoft Network Client 3.0
----------------------------------------

The Microsoft Network Client 3.0 for MS DOS provides a network client
for use with MS DOS clients connecting to Windows NT servers.

The MS Client 3.0 can be found on the Windows NT Server CD-ROM,
under the directory \CLIENTS\MSCLIENT. This client may be installed
across the network, using the SETUP.EXE program found in
\CLIENTS\MSCLIENT\NETSETUP on the Windows NT Server CD, or by building
installation diskettesfrom the files found in \CLIENTS\MSCLIENT\DISKS
on the Windows NT Server CD.

To Install the PCI DOS NDIS 2.0 Driver for MS Network Client 3.0
----------------------------------------

     1. Start the MS Client Setup program by typing "SETUP.EXE"
at the DOS prompt, either from a network directory, or
          from installation floppy diskettes.

     2. After selecting an install directory on your hard drive,
          choose "Change Network Configuration"

     3. Select "Add Adapter"

     4. Select "Network Adapter not shown on list below..."

     5. When prompted, specify "a:\windows" as the path to the
          OEMSETUP.INF file

NOTE: MS Network Client uses the same INF file as
                Windows for Workgroups

     6. From the list of Adaptec driver options displayed, choose
the NDIS 2.0 driver (located at the bottom of the list).

     7. Choose "C" to continue the MS Network Client installation.

     8. Choose additional protocols as necessary.

     9. After completing the installation and rebooting, you will
be able to use your Adaptec PCI adapter.

PROTOCOL.INI Driver Parameters
----------------------------------------

When it loads, the DOS NDIS driver assumes a default
configuration which provides good performance with moderate
use of memory. However, to increase your adapter's
performance or decrease your adapter's memory requirements,
the driver's configuration may be modified by adding
parameters to the PROTOCOL.INI file. Keep in mind that
improving performance generally requires more memory while
decreasing memory requirements generally reduces
performance. The parameters for the DOS NDIS 2.0 driver
described in NDIS.TXT apply also when using the driver with
MS Network Client 3.0.
