Installation Windows 2000,XP.txt Driver File Contents (QMS_DL_600_win2k_XP_TESTEDWORKING.zip)

Installation of the QMS Desklaser under Windows 2000 / windows XP

1.)

extract the files of the archive to a directory.

2.)

go to the dialog for adding a new hardware.
if asked "is the hardware connected?" say "yes, I have..".

if the QMS does not appear in the following list,
choose "add a new hardware device" at the very bottom of this list.

You are asked, what the wizard should do then.
say "install the hardware manually" and in the following list
choose from the device list "printer"

then point to the driver file ('have disk') to install the printer (choose 'INSTALL.INF').

if windows worries about driver certification, ignore this and continue installation anyway.

note:
do not install the printer-driver with 'add printer',
cause windows might say that there is no driver found.

3.)

once the printer appears in your printers list,
double-click "Install.bat" - the status monitor will install and the needed registry entries are made

4.)

After restarting your system, your QMS Desklaser 600 should work fine.
If not, check if the following files are in their directories.
(note: if you choosed 'hide system files/hide protected' in your folder options, you might not see all files)
if some are missing, copy them manually there. (YOUR_SYSTEM_ROOT = 'C:\WINDOWS' for example)

YOUR_SYSTEM_ROOT\system32:
M353NTM.DLL, M353ST.EXE, M353ST.HLP

YOUR_SYSTEM_ROOT\system32\drivers:
M353Par.SYS

YOUR_SYSTEM_ROOT\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86-2:
M353NTM.DLL, M353NTPD.DLL, RASDD.DLL, RASDDUI.DLL, RASDDUI.HLP

5.)

have fun!
