CHG_PICS.EXE Ver 2.70

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is u-code download tool for Pisces and Discovery IBM SCSI Hard Disks.
This tool works with the onboard channels on Gateway 7210,7250R,8400,8450R,6400,7400
and 7450R servers and also with the primary and secondary channels on AMI Adac controllers.

Note: For 8400/8450R, onboard SCSI Ultra160 PRIMARY channel A is recommended to
connect to all IBM drives that are needed for updating the firmware to S96H.

PROCEDURE TO FLASH IBM DISCOVERY DRIVES FROM S80D OR S94N TO S96H:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Verify the current firmware in the drives as follows:
   a. If using onboard LSI SYM53C1010:
The drives' firmware level will be displayed on the screen at boot time
      under the column "rev".
   b. If using onboard Adaptec or Adaptec 29160 adapter:
Press CTRL-A at boot time, select "SCSI Disk Utilities" option and press enter,
select the drive that you want to verify and press enter, highlight "Verify Media"
option and press enter. The firmware version of the drive will be shown.
Note : If an Adaptec 29160 controller is present in the system, and IBM drives are connected to
the 29160 controller, then "onboard SCSI" must be Disabled in the system BIOS.
   c. If using 466/438/493 RAID controller:
Press CTRL-M at boot time, go to "Objects" option and press enter, then
select "Physical Drive" option and press enter, highlight the drive that you want to
verify drive firmware version will display at the bottom of the screen.

2. Download the 9513664.ZIP file containing the S96H firmware.

3. Create a bootable floppy diskette with DOS 6.xx, or Win95/Win98 by using the sys a: or format a: /s command.

4. Unzip the downloaded file to the bootable floppy.

5. Turn on the system and boot from the bootable floppy that was previously created.

6. Right after boot, the batch file will automatically begin flashing.

7. At the end of the firmware update, one text file "CHG_PICS.TXT" is created.
This is for downloading record and keeps S/N and Time of Day (TOD) in this file.

Here is an example of "CHG_PICS.TXT" that is created. This is for downloading record and keeps S/N and TOD in this file.
