Overview

This is the driver for the Intel Albany 10/100 SMBUS PCI Network Card, version 3.2 for Windows 2000, Windows 98SE, Windows 98, Windows NT and Windows 95.
	

Identification

Verify the listed part numbers against the invoice of your computer.  Also, if you are upgrading the driver, check Device Manager and verify that under Network Adapters, Intel Albany SMBUS PCI 10/100 Card is listed.


Installation

Download the file to the desktop, and then perform the following steps.

1.  Locate and double-click the 7507453.exe file.

2.  In the Win-Zip Self-Extractor dialog box, click Unzip to expand the files to C:\cabs\7507453.

3.  After the files are unzipped, click OK.

4.  Close all open programs.

Installing the Driver in Windows 98 and Windows Me

1.  On the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, double-click the System icon.  If you do not see this icon, click view all Control Panel options, and then double-click the System icon.

3.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Device Manager tab, and then double-click Network Adapters.

4.  Under Network Adapters, double-click Intel Albany SMBUS PCI 10/100 Card.

Note: The network card may be listed under the Other Devices category instead of Network Adapters.  It may also have a yellow circle with a black exclamation point over its icon.   Double-click the network card from that location and continue with these steps.

5.  In the Intel Albany SMBUS PCI 10/100 Card Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver.

6.  In the Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box, select Specify the location of the driver (Advanced), and then click Next.

7.  In the next dialog box, select Search for a better driver, select Specify a location, and then click Browse.

8.  In the Browse for Folder dialog box, double-click drive C.

9.  Double-click the Cabs folder.

10.  Double-click the 7507453 folder, and then click OK.

11.  In the Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box, click Next.

12.  When the "Windows has found the driver for the Intel Albany SMBUS PCI 10/100 Card" message appears, click Next.

13.  After the files copy, click Finish.

14.  When prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.

Installing the Driver in Microsoft Windows 95

1.  Install the Intel Albany SMBUS PCI 10/100 Card into one of the PCI slots of your computer, and then close the case and reconnect power.

2.  Turn on the computer.

3.  In the New Hardware Found dialog box, click Next.

4.  In the next dialog box, select Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer, and then click OK.

5.  In the Install from Disk dialog box, type: C:\cabs\7507453.  Click OK.

6.  The driver for the Intel 10/100 PCI Network Adapter is found.  Click Finish.

7.  Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

8.  Restart the computer.

Installing the Driver in Microsoft Windows NT 4.0

1.  On the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, double-click the Network icon.

3.  In the Network dialog box, select Adapters, and then click Add.

4.  In the Select Network Adapter dialog box, click Have Disk.

5.  In the Insert Disk dialog box, type: C:\cabs\7507453.  Click OK.

6.  In the Select OEM Option dialog box, select Intel Albany SMBUS PCI 10/100 Card, and then click OK.

7.  In the Intel Albany SMBUS PCI 10/100 Card Setup dialog box, you must specify the Media Type of the adapter installed in your computer.  Because the netcard detection function is not supported in the Setup program, verify that these settings match your adapter's configuration.  Otherwise, the network ability of Windows NT does not work properly.

8.  To complete the network configuration, remember to bind the adapter to the transport drivers by selecting Bindings in the Network dialog box.

9.  In the Network dialog box, click Close.

10.  To initialize the network function, restart the computer.


Removal

There is not an easy way to remove the drivers in Windows 98SE, Windows 98, Windows NT, or Windows 95.  Contact your network administrator to remove the driver.

To remove the drivers, you need first to uninstall the Intel driver from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel, then go to Device Manager and manually install the driver you want to use.


Troubleshooting

Remember that after loading or updating the driver in Windows NT, it may be necessary to reload the service pack.

If Windows 98SE stops responding on shut downs, it is necessary to perform a Windows update.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
