      2.   Installation Instructions

      4.   Known Limitations

1. Important Note
=================================================================
Please read this README file and all the supplied documentation
BEFORE you continue the installation.

This is not an official release of the S3 Savage 4 display
driver. It is a combination of the official Windows 2000 drivers
8.40.40 and 8.40.30.

However unofficial the package may be, this release still uses
unmodified files (*.dll) from official S3 releases.

3. Installation Instructions
=================================================================
Manual Installation via .inf:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Click Start, then Settings, then Control Panel.

Start the "Display" applet program.

Select the 'Settings' page, push the 'Advanced' button. Click on
the 'Adapter' tab, push the 'Properties' button, clock on the
'Driver' tab, and click on 'Update Driver'.

Push the "Have Disk" button and press "OK".

Specify the path to the new drivers' .inf file and press the
      <ENTER> key:
      Example 1: Insert the drivers disk in the A: floppy drive,
                 and enter A:\.
      Example 2: Type in the name of the directory where you
                 copied the drivers, either on your local hard
                 drive or on a network shared drive.
      Example 3: If you're not sure exactly where the drivers
                 are, choose the "Browse..." button and find them.

The "Select Device" dialog box will appear. Select the adapter
that corresponds to the one you installed in your machine and
click OK.

Windows will copy the display drivers to the proper
directories on your system.

Continue choosing Close until asked to restart your machine from
the "Systems Settings Change" dialog box.

After the system has restarted, you can go back into the Display
applet and select alternate screen resolutions, color depths and
related features.

4. Known Issues

The OpenGL driver included in this release is fully optimized for
maximum performance. It was especially designed to adress
problems occuring in ID Software's "Return to Castle
Wolfenstein".

5. Known Limitations
=================================================================

None. This driver is compatible and tested with Windows XP, but
has not been tested on windows 2000
