		      Setup Program for
		   Ethernet Adapter Series

The SETUP.EXE program is used for adapter configuration of
NE2000 Compatible Ethernet adapters.


The SETUP program is used to set the adapter's configuration
and diagnose the adapter's hardware.

Starting the Program
====================

1. From DOS, type the following indicating the directory
   or drive location of the SETUP.EXE program. Then press
   <Enter>:

   A:SETUP	<Enter>

2. Identify your adapter. Use the up/down arrow keys to
   highlight the appropriate adapter name.

Note
----
If there is more than one adapter installed inside the
host PC, the Hardware Configuration module will prompt
you to specify the card you want to configure. In the
meantime, program will automatically resolve the I/O base
or IRQ conflict, then adjust the available I/O base or
IRQ for the adapter.


View Current Configuration
==========================

1. Use the up/down arrow keys to select the
   "VIEW CURRENT CONFIGURATION" option and press <Enter>
   to view the current adapter's configuration settings.

2. This function displays its configuration to include
   the following items:

   *  Operating Mode
   *  Ethernet Address
   *  Medium Type (AUTO, 10BaseT Link Test Disable, AUI)
   *  Full-Duplex
   *  I/O Base Address
   *  Interrupt
   *  Boot ROM Base Address

3. Press SPACE BAR key or ESC key to return to the main menu.


Default Setup
=============

1. Choose "DEFAULT SETUP" by highlighting the option using
   the up/down arrow keys. Then press <Enter> to set the
   adapter's configuration by default.

2. It will display the adapter's configuration showing
   values for the following items:

   *  Operating Mode
   *  Medium Type (AUTO, 10BaseT Link Test Disable, AUI)
   *  Full-Duplex
   *  I/O Base Address
   *  Interrupt
   *  Boot ROM Base Address

3. Press SPACE BAR key to set available values for the
   selected adapter by default, or press ESC key to
   return to the main menu.


Manual Setup
============

1. Choose "MANUAL SETUP" by highlighting the option using
   the up/down arrow keys. Then press <Enter> to continue
   and set the adapter's configuration by manual.

2. This function displays the following items to set
   available values by manual in different mode:

Plug & Play Mode :

   *  Operating Mode
   *  Medium Type (AUTO, 10BaseT Link Test Disable, AUI)
   *  Full-Duplex
   *  Boot ROM Base Address

Jumperless Mode :

   *  Operating Mode
   *  Medium Type (AUTO, 10BaseT Link Test Disable, AUI)
   *  Full-Duplex
   *  I/O Base Address
   *  Interrupt
   *  Boot ROM Base Address

3. If there is any change value for any item, Press ESC key
   and HARDWARE RESET or ENTER key to update value of item.

4. If there is not any change value for any item, Press
   ESC key to return to the main menu.

Note
----
When Boot ROM is enable in Plug & Play Mode, the Menu will
show the following items to set available values by manual.

   *  Operating Mode
   *  Medium Type (AUTO, 10BaseT Link Test Disable, AUI)
   *  Full-Duplex
   *  Boot ROM Base Address
   *  |--- Power-up I/O
   *  |--- Power-up IRQ
   *  |--- Power-up Status


Diagnose the Adapter
====================

1. Choose the "DIAGNOSE THE ADAPTER" option to test the
   adapter's  components  and its  installation and then
   press  <Enter> to continue.

2. The program will run the following tests:

	   *	 Configuration test
	   *	 I/O Registers test
	   *	 Internal loopback test
	   *	 External loopback test
	   *	 RAM test

3. This test monitors the adapter and corresponding cabling
   system. However, it does not test the network's condition.

   The screen displays the PASSED or FAILED count for each
   test.  If a test fails, press the space bar to display the
   reason for failure and possible solutions.

4. The adapter test checks the following items ---

   *   Configuration Test checks the initial status of the
       Ethernet Controller
   *   I/O Test checks I/O accessibility
   *   Internal Loopback Test checks adapter's controller
   *   External Loopback Test checks the network link
   *   RAM Test checks the condition of on-board RAM


Diagnose EEPROM
===============

1. Choose "DIAGNOSE EEPROM" by highlighting the option using
   the up/down arrow keys. Then press <Enter> to test the
   adapter's on-board EEPROM.

2. The program will run READ/WRITE tests on each register in
   the EEPROM.


Run Diagnostics On NetWork
==========================

1. Choose "RUN DIAGNOSTICS ON NETWORK" by highlighting the
   option using the up/down arrow keys. Then press <Enter>
   to continue.

2. The program will thoroughly verify your adapter's ability
   to communicate with another device on the network.

3. Set up at least one computer as a Responder and at least
   one as an Initiator.

4. The Responder displays the status of communications with
   each Initiator on the network.

5. The	Initiator  displays the current  Responder  and the
   status of corresponding communications.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
