QMSJ Application Notes
4/7/03

1. For information on installation
instructions and options make sure to
    review the QMSJ
    user's guide.

2. The default QMSJ write operation password
is "config". Make sure to change this
password after install to ensure security
    is not compromised.

3. Make sure that if a previous version of
QMSJ is installed run the uninstall before
    upgrading.

4. ** Note the TCP/IP transport will have to
be loaded to talk to the QMSJ
       agent. **
4.2 Netware systems do not come with the
TCPIP protocol loaded by default make the
    following modifications to the
    AUTOEXEC.NCF:

    LOAD TCPIP
    LOAD <ethernet card> SLOT=<slot>
      FRAME=ENTERNET_II NAME=<name>
    BIND IP <name> ADDR=<ip address>
      MASK=<mask>
    LOAD SCMD /BS

5. Operation of QMSJ on NetWare 6.x servers
requires that the network protocol IPX/SPX
    be installed.

6. After the Novell Netware agent installation
is complete one must start the QMSJ agent
by doing one of the following:

    A. reboot the Netware server that the
        agent was installed on.
    B. type the following on the Netware server
console that the agent was installed on:

        RPCSTART
        LOAD QLREMOTE.NLM

*** Note this assumes you have already
        loaded the QLogic Novell Netware
        HAM driver ***

7. The QMSJ online web help can only be
viewed by Internet Explorer (version 4.0 or
    greater) or Netscape Communicator (version
    4.5 or greater).

8. The QMSJ application tries to help in not
allowing the user to connect to the same
host more than once (causes issues with
    policies and wasted system resources).
This adds the requirement that all host
IP address MUST resolve to a host name to
    allow connection to complete.

If DNS is not used you must edit the local
host file on the system where you are running
the QMSJ GUI and add the host name to IP
    mapping manually.

    NT:

    <install drive>:\\winnt\\system32\\drivers
      \\etc\\hosts

    Netware:

    SYS:ETC\\HOSTS

9. The File Choosers in QMSJ at times does
not respond to double click traversal of
the file system. The work around for now
is select the directory and click the Open
button to the right to traverse the directory
    or open a specific file.

10. On Netware 4.2 the IP Address and Hostname
information can't be retrieved to be displayed
in the 'Novell Netware Disk Selection' step
of the application install. Only the drive
    letter will be displayed.

11. On Netware the following modification to
CONFIG.SYS is required to run QMSJ.

In CONFIG.SYS file on NetWare server
          boot drive:

        FILES = 100
        BUFFERS = 50

12. The video resolution must be set to 256
colors or higher to run the QMSJ GUI.

13. During the uninstall of QMSJ from a Netware
server the following message: 'Can not stat
sys:etc/rpcnet.cfg' will be displayed at the
server's prompt. This does not affect the
operation of the Netware server and can be
    ignored.

14. The administrator account password must not
be blank when changing the QMSJ application
password. This is a Windows 2003 security
    restriction.
