Overview

This is a new video driver for computers with the 81x (x=variable) video card and Microsoft(r) Windows(r) XP operating system.


Identification

Perform the following steps to identify the type of graphic controller in your computer.

1.  On the Start menu, click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, click Appearance and Themes.

3.  In the Appearance and Themes window, click Display.

4.  In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab.

5.  On the Settings tab, below the picture of the monitor, the driver is listed as something similar to:

    Display:
    Gateway EV700 on Intel(r) 8281XXX (x=variable) Graphics Controller

6.  If your computer has the Intel 8281XXX (x=variable) Graphics Controller, this is the correct driver.


Installation

1.  On the Start menu, click Run.

2.  In the Run dialog box, in the Open text box, type the path and location of the downloaded 7512256.exe file, for example, C:\Cabs\7512256.exe).  Click OK.

3.  The files are extracted to C:\Cabs\7512256. 

4.  On the Start menu, click Control Panel.

5.  In Control Panel, click Appearance and Themes. 

6.  In the Appearance and Themes window, click Display.

7.  In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab, and then click Advanced.

8.  In the Plug and Play and Intel(r) 8281x Graphics Properties dialog box, click the Adapter tab, and then click Properties.

9.  In the Intel(r) 8281x Graphics Controller Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab.

10.  On the Driver tab, click Update Driver.

11.  In the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), and then click Next.

12.  In the next Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, perform the following steps.

 a.  Clear the Search removable media (floppy, CD-ROM) check box.
 b.  Select the Include this location in the search check box.
 c.  In the text box, type the path and location of the driver, for example, C:\Cabs\7512256.
 d.  Click Next.

14.  In the Completing the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, click Finish.

15.  In the Intel(r) 8281x Graphics Controller Properties dialog box, click Close. 

16.  In the System Settings Change dialog box, click Yes to restart the computer.

17.  After the computer restarts, the updated drivers are initialized, and any desired display settings different from the default values can be made.


Removal

1.  On the Start menu, click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, click Appearance and Themes.
 
3.  In the Appearance and Themes window, click Display.

4.  In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab, and then click Advanced.

5.  In the Plug and Play and Intel(r) 8281x Graphics Properties dialog box, click the Adapter tab, and then click Properties.

6.  In the Intel(r) 8281x Graphics Controller Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab.

7.  On the Driver tab, click Uninstall.

8.  In the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK.

9.  In the System Settings Change dialog box, click Yes to restart the computer.

10.  When the computer restarts, previous drivers are initialized, and the display settings may require adjustments to meet desired values.


Troubleshooting

If the installation procedure does not work, there may be issues with the downloaded file, for example, it may be corrupted.  Download the file again and ensure that all steps are followed while installing it. 


Reason for Update

This driver update provides better support for external flat panel monitors.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
