Overview

This driver is for Microsoft(r) Windows(r) XP and is only to be used on a Profile(r) 3 computer with an integrated network card.


Identification

After installing Windows XP, in Device Manager, under Other Devices, there is a listing for a Realtek(r) RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC.


Installation

1.  Download the driver, and then double-click 7511954.exe to extract the files.  Click OK, and then click Close.  

2.  On the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.  In Control Panel, select Classic Mode.
 
3.  Double-click the System icon.

4.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab.

5.  On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.

6.  In Device Manager, in the list of devices, click the plus sign (+) next to Network Adapters.

7.  Double-click Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC.

8.  In the Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab.

9.  On the Driver tab, click Update Driver.

10.  In the Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box, select Specify the location of the driver (Advanced), and then click Next.

11.  In the Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box, select Display a list of drivers in a specific location, and then click Next.

12.  In the Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box, click Have Disk.

13.  In the Install From Disk dialog box, in the Copy manufacturer's files from box, type: C:\Drivers\7511954.  Click OK.

14.  In the Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box, select Realtek RTL8139/810x Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC, and then click Next.  If an Update Driver Warning dialog box opens, click Yes.

15.  In the Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box, click Next.

16.  In the Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box, click Finish.



Removal

1.  On the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.  

2.  In Control Panel, double-click the System icon.

3.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab.

4.  On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.

5.  In Device Manager, in the list of devices, click the plus sign (+) next to Network Adapters.

5.  Select Realtek RTL8139/810x Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC, and then click Uninstall.



Troubleshooting

1.  Verify that all cables are securely connected.  Confirm link lights on the system and the hub.

2.  Please follow the driver removal and installation sections of this readme file.   

3.  Consult the network administrator for all applicable network settings.


Reason for Update

This update loads the latest drivers for the Realtek RTL8139/810x Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
