Introduction:
-------------
This document describes the procedure to install Windows 98/98 SE
and Windows 2000 driver for Realtek RTL8139 PCI Fast Ethernet adapter.
Location of Driver : \W98-2000\RTL8139.SYS
Installing driver procedure on Microsoft Win98/Win98 SE :
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Before you start with the installation process, make sure that your
adapter should be properly installed in your PCI bus slot.
Executing Win98/Win98 SE, it will auto-detect your system
configuration and find the adapter hardware.
1. When Windows 98/98 SE prompts with "PCI Ethernet Controller" in
"New Hardware Found" dialog box, click the "Next" button.
2. Select "Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)"
form the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, then click the
"Next" button.
3. Insert the Realtek RTL8139 driver disk into drive A and specify
the setup file pathname A:\W98-2000, then click the "Next" button.
4. Windows 98/98SE will prompt with "Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast
Ethernet NIC" in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box.
5. Click the "Next" button in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog
box,then Windows 98 will copy the driver(.sys) from A:\W98-2000
to the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and the driver(.inf) from
A:\W98-2000 to the C:\WINDOWS\INF directory.
6. When Windows prompts with "Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet
NIC" in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, click the
"Finish" button.
7. Win98/Win98 SE will finish the other installation procedure
automatically, then you restart the system.
Installing driver procedure on Microsoft Windows 2000 :

Before you start with the installation process, make sure that your
adapter should be properly installed in your PCI bus slot.
Executing Windows2000, it will auto-detect your system
configuration and find the adapter hardware.
1. Windows 2000 will install built-in driver "Realtek RTL8139(A)
PCI Fast Ethernet NIC" automatically.
2. Restart your computer, then you can update the newer driver from
the provided Driver Diskette.
3. Click right button on "My Computer" icon from Desktop then choose
the "property" item from popup menu.
4. Double click the "Device Manager" in "Hardware" dialog box.
5. Windows 2000 will prompt all device groups in your computer, please
select "Network Adapter" group.
6. Double click the "Realtek RTL8139(A) PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter"
device from "Network Adapter" group.
7. Click "Driver" button in "Realtek RTL8139(A) PCI Fast Ethernet
Adapter Properties " dialog box.
8. Click "Update Driver ..." button
9. From "Upgrade Device Driver Wizard" window, please choose
"Specify the location of the driver..." then click Next button.
10. Insert the Realtek RTL8139 driver disk into drive A and specify
the setup file pathname A:\W98-2000 in the "Upgrade Device Driver
Wizard" dialog box, then click "Next" button.
11. Windows will prompt inf file path "C:\WINDOWS\INF\...." in the
"Upgrade Device Driver Wizard" dialog box, please select "Install one
of the Drivers" then click Next button.
12. Windows will prompt a dialog box for you to choose the proper driver,
please select "Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC" and the
location is "A:\W98-2000\...." then click Next button.
13. Click "Finish" button in the "Upgrade Device Driver Wizard" dialog
box. then you restart the system.
Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
