Overview

This is the Gateway supported integrated Intel Bay City Pro/1000 MT network driver version 7.0.36.0 and integrated Intel Bay City Pro/100 VE network driver version 7.0.26.0 for Windows XP and Windows 2000.

Note:  Drivers for other operating systems are also provided within this archive.  The drivers for operating systems other than Windows 2000 and XP are not supported by Gateway.  These drivers were provided to Gateway by the software publisher and have not been tested by Gateway. The driver may not be compatible with your software. Please contact the software publisher for more information.


Identification

To determine if this is the correct driver to install, check Device Manager.

In Windows XP:

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance.

3.  In Performance and Maintenance, click the System icon.

4.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

5.  In Device Manager, double-click Network adapters.

6.  If Intel PRO/1000 MT or Intel PRO/100 VE is listed under Network adapters, this is the correct driver.

In Windows 2000:

1.  From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, double-click the System icon.

3.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

4.  In Device Manager, double-click Network adapters.

5.  If Intel PRO/1000 MT or Intel PRO/100 VE is listed under Network adapters, this is the correct driver.


Installation

1.  From the Start menu, click Run.

2.  In the Run dialog box, type the path and location of the file 9522927_9527022.exe.  (Example:  C:\Cabs\9522927_9527022.exe)  Click OK.  The files extract to the C:\Cabs\9522927_9527022 directory. 

3.  From the Start menu, click Run.

4.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\9522927_9527022\Autorun.exe.  Click OK.   

5.  In the Intel(r) PRO Network Connections dialog box, click Install Base Drivers.  

Note: Install Software installs both the base drivers and the Intel PROSet utilities.  If only the base drivers are desired, click Install Base Drivers.

6.  In the Install Base Driver dialog box, click OK.

7.  Upon completion of the driver installation, the initial Intel® PRO Network Connections dialog box is again available.  Driver installation is complete.  If the Intel PRO Set Utilities are required, proceed to the next step.

8.  In the Intel(r) PRO Network Connections dialog box, click Install Software to install the Intel PRO Set Utilities for the network adapter.  

9.  In the Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for the Intel(r) PROSet dialog box, click Next.

10.  In the License Agreement dialog box, select I accept the terms in the license agreement, and then click Next.

11.  In the Setup Type dialog box, select Typical, and then click Next.

12.  In the Ready to Install the Program dialog box, click Install.

13.  In the InstallShield Wizard Completed dialog box, click Finish to complete the installation.

14.  In the initial Intel(r) PRO Network Connections dialog box, click Exit.


Removal

In both Windows 2000 and Windows XP, the Intel Software and Base Drivers can be removed through the Add or Remove Program Properties function in the Control Panel.


Troubleshooting

In Windows XP:

Run Network Diagnostics to help determine the network configuration problem.

1.  From the Start menu, point to All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then click System Information. 

2.  In the System Information window, from the Tools menu, click Net Diagnostics.

3.  In the Help and Support Center window, click Scan your system.

4.  The results are shown.  Click the plus sign (+) next to Network adapters for additional information. 

Note: Verify whether the link light on the back of the network card is lit.  If not, reseat the cable.  If the light still is not lit, check the cable and the port on the hub or contact your network administrator.

In Windows 2000:

Check your network configuration in System Information.

1.  From the Start menu, point to Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then click System Information. 

2.  In the System Information window, click the plus sign (+) next to Network, and then click the Adapter folder.

3.  In the System Information window, in the pane to the right of the Adapter folder, scroll down, and then click Intel PRO/100 VE Network Connection.

4.  Check your TCP/IP settings.

Note: Verify whether the link light on the back of the network card is lit.  If not, reseat the cable.  If the light still is not lit, check the cable and the port on the hub or contact your network administrator.

Intel PROSet also provides utilities that can be used to help diagnose network problems.  The PROSet utilities will be installed automatically with the Install Software option of the installation instructions.


Reason for Update

This driver set added additional motherboard support only for the PRO/100 Intel Network adapter.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
