Overview

This patch hides the F11 prompt from appearing during startup on a media-less computer.  The F11 prompt is not displayed but is still functional for system administrators and technical support use.  


Identification

Only install this file if you wish to prevent the F11 prompt from appearing during startup on a media-less computer.  


Installation

1.  Download the file to the desktop.

2.  On the desktop, double-click the RemoveCountDown.exe file.  The needed files extract to the C:\Cabs\RemoveCountDown folder.

3.  From the Start menu, click Run.

4.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\RemoveCountDown\RemoveCountDown.exe.  Click OK.  

5.  In the Remove F11 Bootkey dialog box, click OK.

6.  In the Remove F11 Bootkey dialog box, click Quit.


Removal

The F11 prompt cannot be re-enabled by running C:\Cabs\RemoveCountDown\RemoveCountDown.exe again.


Troubleshooting

If you have difficulties installing this patch, download the file again, and then verify that all instructions in this document are followed.

The F11 prompt may need to be hidden in certain circumstances.  This patch provides the functionality to hide the F11 prompt.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
