Instructions for installing the USRobotics V.92 Fax PCI Modem for Microsoft(r) Windows(r) 2000 or Windows 2003

1.  Start the hardware installation wizard, either by starting it in Device Manager, or starting the system after the modem has been installed.

2.  Click Next to continue through the wizard.

3.  Click Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended), and then click Next.

4.  Select the file source where the driver is located.  If you are using a downloaded driver on a floppy disk, ensure that Floppy disk drive is selected.  If you are using a driver CD or a Server Companion CD, ensure that CD-ROM drives is selected.  Click Next to continue.  If the drivers are downloaded from the Internet, or are on other media not provided by Gateway, please make sure the driver has been extracted.

5.  The server finds the associated INF file for the modem, and them prompts to verify that it is the correct one.  Click Next to continue.

6.  Files copy, and the installation completes.

The Linux kernel automatically detects the modem.  No additional drivers are required to utilize the modem, however the modem needs to be configured in the application that will utilize the modem, and is specific to the particular application.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
