Installation:
=============

  1. Prepare a formatted diskette on any DOS machine.  For example, type:

      C>format a:

     Note: Make sure your diskette is free from bad sectors.
           Verify this using the DOS SCANDISK or CHKDSK command.

  2. Login as root user. (On system maintenance mode)

  3. Put network driver diskette to floppy A: and use doscp command
     to copy the file "etfdrv.208" for installing SCO UNIX Network Driver
     into UNIX's directory.

     # mkdir etf
     # cd etf
     # doscp a:/sco/3.x/etfdrv.208 ./etfdrv

  4. Place the blank formatted diskette in drive A. Enter the following
     command. Again, if you wish to use drive B, adjust the instructions
     below appropriately.

      dd if=etfdrv of=/dev/rfd0135ds18

  5. Run CUSTOM utility in UNIX to install driver with this diskette.
     From the menu select:

      Custom -> Install -> A New Product -> Entire Product

     After reading drive A, it will prompt a message telling you to
     use "netconfig" to add drivers into your system. When custom
     has completed, remove the diskette and quit custom.

  6. Run netconfig to configure adapter driver.
     # netconfig

     The screen will display the following messages, and Select
     item (1) to Add a chain  :

     1) Add a chain
     2) Remove a chain
     3) Reconfigure an element in a chain
     4) Quit

  7. After the above option completed, the screen display next option
     messages :

     Select item ( ) : sco_tcp   SCO TCP/IP for UNIX

  8. When the user completed the above option, then various adapter
     drivers in SCO UNIX occur and select "32-Bit PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter
     (etf), Board 0" item.

  9. Add chain sco_tcp -> etf0 (y/n),   TYPE 'y'

 10. Enter the internet Address of this interface,
     for example : 192.72.24.55

 11. Enter the netmask for this interface (default 255.255.255.0).

 12. Does the interface use a broadcast address of all 1's (y/n),
     default : y

 13. Enter the boardcast address for this interface,
     default : xxx.xx.x.255             press ENTER

 14. Are these values correct ? (y/n)   TYPE 'y'

 15. Pseudo ttys are currently configured, do you want to:

         1) Add Pseudo ttys
         2) Remove Pseudo ttys
         Select an option or enter q to quit [q]   TYPE 'q'

     TCP connections currently configured, do you want to:

         1) Add TCP Connections
         2) Remove TCP Connections
         Select an option or enter q to quit [q]   TYPE 'q'

 16. Available options:

        1) Add a chain
        2) Remove a chain
        3) Reconfigure a element in a chain
        q. Quit

     Select option: q

 17. Do you want to relink to kernel now ?               y

 18. Do you want this kernel to boot by default (y/n)    y

 19. Do you want the kernel environment rebuilt (y/n)    y

 20. Reboot unix.

         # shutdown -y -g0

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
