  Note: If this driver was contained in a ZIPfile it should be noted that
        problems may occur if the file was unZIPped while under Windows 
        NT(DOS). If you experience problems running the driver it may be 
        necessary to BOOT DOS to unZIP the file.


                             Section 1
                             =========
      
   This kit contains Windows NT (V3.5/3.51) device drivers for Intel 
   and Alpha AXP systems.

     - Windows NT V3.5/3.51 (Intel and Alpha AXP) driver V2.07 in directory
       \WINNT
                o Now supports 2K MemoryMode

                o Now supports PIO mode (Programmed I/O)


                             Section 2
                             =========
 
   New setup utility (V1.17) for Windows NT on Alpha AXP systems has been
   included in the kit. \WINNT\NICAXP.EXE. This utility runs under the
   arc console. From the BOOT MENU select the RUN A PROGRAM option. At the
   prompt:

                Program to run: a:\winnt\nicaxp

   Once you are inside the menu configure your EtherWORKS 3 card according
   to your PC's Operating environment. When done SAVE your changes and 
   power off your PC for the changes to take effect.


                             Section 3
                             =========

INTERPRETING EVENT LOG ENTRIES:

If there are events in the error log which are written by the EtherWORKS 3
TURBO device driver, event information can be determined by examining the 
last longword of the entry.

Value   Problem
-----   -------
0       No useful information has been logged.
1       CRC fault on the adapter's EEPROM.  Possible hardware fault.
2       Shared memory size is illegal.  Use 32k or 64k.
3       Memory could not be allocated.  The system lacks sufficient memory.
4       Shared memory could not be mapped, probably a system conflict.
5       Filter Init failed.  Possible lack of sufficient system memory.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
