Overview

SMC1211TX 10/100 PCI Card Driver for Windows 95, 98, 98 Second Edition, NT 4.0, Windows 2000, version 2.57.


Identification

Verify the listed part numbers agianst the invoice of your somputer.  Also if you are upgrading the driver you can check your Device Manager and verify you have a SMC1211TX 10/100 PCI Card listed under your Network Adapters.


Installation


Download the file to the desktop, and then follow these steps.

1.  Double-click the 7507698.exe file.

2.  In the Win-Zip Self Extractor dialog box, click Unzip to expand the files to C:\Drivers\7507698.

3.  After the files are unzipped, click OK.

4.  Quit all open programs.


Installing the driver in Microsoft Windows 98 and Windows Me
-------------------------------------------------------------

1.  From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, double-click the System icon.  If you do not see this icon, click view all Control Panel options, and then double-click the System icon.

3.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Device Manager tab, and then double-click Network Adapters.

4.  Under Network Adapters, double-click SMC1211TX 10/100 PCI Card.

Note: The Network card may be listed under the Other Devices category instead of Network Adapters.  It may also have a yellow circle with a black exclamation point over its icon.   Double-click the Network card from that location and continue with these steps.

5.  In the SMC1211TX 10/100 PCI Card Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver.

6.  In the Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box, select Specify the location of the driver (Advanced), and then click Next.

7.  Select Search for a better driver, select Specify a location, and then click Browse.

8.  In the Browse for Folder dialog box, double-click drive C.

9.  Double-click the Drivers folder.

10.  Double-click the 7507698 folder, and then click OK.

11.  In the Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box, click Next.

12.  Windows has found the driver for the SMC1211TX 10/100 PCI Card.  Click Next.

13.  After the files copy, click Finish.

14.  When prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.


Installing the driver in Microsoft Windows 95
---------------------------------------------

1.  Install the SMC1211TX 10/100 PCI Card into one of the PCI slots of your computer, and then close the case and reconnect power.

2.  Start the computer.

3.  In New Hardware Found dialog box, click Next.

4.  Select Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer, and then click OK.

5.  In the Install from Disk dialog box, type: C:\drivers\7507698.  Click OK.

6.  The driver for the SMC1211TX 10/100 PCI Card is found.  Click Finish.

7.  Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

8.  Restart your computer.


Installing the driver in Windows 2000
-------------------------------------

1.  Install the SMC1211TX 10/100 PCI Card into one of the PCI slots of your computer, and then close the case and reconnect power.

2.  Start the computer.

3.  In the Install Hardware Device Drivers dialog box, an Ethernet Controller is found.  Click Next.

4.  Select Search for a suitable driver for your device (Recommended), and then click Next.

5.  In the Locate Driver Files dialog box, select Specify a location, and then click Next.

6.  In the Found New Hardware Wizard dialog box, type: C:\drivers\7507698.  Click OK.

7.  In the Driver File Search dialog box, click Next.

8.  In the Insert Disk dialog box, click OK.

9.  In the Files Needed dialog box, type: C:\drivers\7507698.  Click OK.

10.  In the Hardware Install dialog box, the SMC1211TX 10/100 PCI Card driver is found.  Click Finish.

11.  Restart your computer.


Installing the driver in Microsoft Windows NT 3.51
--------------------------------------------------

1.  From the Main group, double-click the Control Panel icon.

2.  In Control Panel, double-click the Network icon.

3.  In the Network Settings dialog box, click Add Adapter.

4.  In the Add Network Adapter dialog box, in the list of network cards, select Other Requires disk from manufacturer, and then press the ENTER key.

5.  Type: C:\drivers\7507698.  Click OK.

6.  In the Select OEM Option dialog box, verify that SMC1211TX 10/100 PCI Card is selected, and then click OK.

7.  In the SMC1211TX 10/100 PCI Card Setup dialog box, you must specify the Media Type of the adapter installed in your computer.  Because the netcard detection function is not supported in the Setup program, verify that these settings match your adapter's configuration.  Otherwise, the network ability of Windows NT does not work properly.

 
8.  Installation is complete.  To verify, the SMC1211TX 10/100 PCI Card adapter is listed as one of the Installed Adapter Cards and the Intel 10/100 PCI Network Adapter driver is listed as one of the Installed Network Software items.

9.  To complete network configuration, remember to bind the adapter to transport drivers by selecting Bindings in the Network Setting dialogs box.

10.  To initialize the network function, restart your computer.


Installing the driver in Microsoft Windows NT 4.0
-------------------------------------------------
1.  From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, double-click the Network icon.

3.  In the Network dialog box, select Adapters, and then click Add.

4.  In the Select Network Adapter dialog box, click Have Disk.

5.  In the Insert Disk dialog box, type: C:\Drivers\7507698.  Click OK.
