Destination IRCom Replacement for DestiVu Ver. 1.x


Introduction.

This document describes the installation procedures and provides information for the replacement of the IRCom.exe file in DestiVu Ver 1.x. This procedure is not required for the Destination XTV series with DestiVu Ver 2.0 and Ver 2.01.

1.  System Requirements.

    a.  The system must be a Destination DMC (DL2) system.     
b. The system must have DestiVu Version 1.x loaded on the system.  DestiVu 1.x can be loaded from the Destination Restoration CD's Ver 2.2, 2.3, and 2.4 if not already installed.
 
2.  Contents of Distribution Package.  

The download file expands into two files as follows:
 
    a.  Readme.doc
    b.  IRFix.exe

3.  Installation Procedures.

a. If DestiVu is active, shutdown DestiVu.

1) Click on the DestiVu icon in the Systray next to the displayed system time.
2) Select "Shutdown DestiVu" in the popup menu box.
 
b. The IRCom will remain active after DestiVu has been successfully shutdown.  The program must also be shutdown for the replacement of the executable file. 

1) Press <Ctrl><Alt> and <Delete> (all three keys) on the keyboard at the same time.  This will activate the Close Program window.  Note:  Only press this combination of keys once.  Pressing this combination more than once will reboot the system.
2) In the displayed window find and click on "IRCOM".
3) Click on the "End Task" button.
4) An IRCom Window may appear stating the program is not responding.  Click on the "End Task" button.

c. Click on the "Start" button on the taskbar.

    d.  Select and click on "Run" from the Start Menu.

e. In the Run window, type the path and program to be executed.  Example:  "C:\cabs\IRFix.exe" (without the quotation marks)

f. Click on the "OK" button.

g. A ZipMagic Self-Extracting Archive window for the Destination IR Controller Update will appear.  Click on the "Next" button to continue with the installation.

h. In the Destination Directory window, the path for the installation should reflect "C:\Program Files\DestiVu".  If the path is not reflected as above, correct the path.

i. Click on the "Next" button.

j. The next window will report Extraction Complete.  Click on the "Finish" button.

k. Click on the "Start" button.  From the Start Menu select Shutdown.  Then select "Restart Computer" and click on the "OK" button.

l. Once the system has rebooted and DestiVu has opened, run DestiVu Setup to configure the device, which previously could not be configured without creating problems.  

4.  Release Notes.

    This file will fix a known issue where the IR Controller, when configured with multiple devices, would cause DestiVu to lockup and hang when being initialized.
