Overview

This document describes the steps necessary to install the Lite-On Error 12 recovery media patch.


Identification

If you are receiving an Error 12 message when attempting to create Recovery Media using the Recovery Media Creator and a Lite-On drive, install this patch.


Installation

1.  Download the file to the desktop.

2.  On the desktop, double-click the 9529628.exe file.  The needed files extract to the C:\Cabs\9529628 folder.

3.  From the Start menu, click Run.

4.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\9529628\Error12fix.exe.  Click OK.

5.  In the Your Update Has Completed dialog box, click OK.


Removal

This utility cannot be removed.


Troubleshooting

If you have difficulty installing this file, download the file again, and then perform the installation steps.


Reason for Update

This utility resolves the Error 12 error when creating Recovery Media.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
