Overview

This is the Intel Extreme Graphics 2 driver for the Intel 845G/GL/GE/PE/GV and 865G chipsets for the following Gateway
motherboards: Midway, Midway Plus, Midway 2 GV, Midway 2, Nimitz2, Seabreeze, Shiloh, and Thrasher, plus Profile 5 motherboards. This driver is also applicable to the following computer systems: Profile 5, 310 Series, 510 Series, E-2100, E-2300, E-4100, 3200 Series, and the 610S Media Center PC. 


Identification

Use the following steps to confirm that this is the correct graphics driver update for your desktop computer.

If the computer is turned off:

1.  Turn on the computer.  On your keyboard, repeatedly press the F2 key to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.

2.  In the BIOS Setup Utility, on the Main tab, look for the BIOS version line.  The version displays like any of the following: BF86510A.xxx.xxxx.Pxx (where x is variable characters), SR84511A.xxx.xxxx.Pxx, SR84510A.xxx.xxxx.Pxx, or
RG84510A.xxx.xxxx.Pxx.  The BIOS prefix BF86510A, SR84511A, RG84510A and SR84510A are constant and specifically identifies the correct motherboard.  The BIOS version for the Profile 5 is identified as Pxx.865G.

3.  If this is correct, this is the correct graphics driver for your computer.  Press the F10 key to exit the BIOS Setup Utility.

If the computer is turned on and in Windows:

1.  From the Start menu, click Shut Down.  In the Shut Down Windows dialog box, select Restart, and then click Yes.

2.  As soon as the computer restarts, on your keyboard, repeatedly press the F2 key to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.

3.  In the BIOS Setup Utility, on the Main tab, look for the BIOS version line.  The version displays like any of the following: BF86510A.xxx.xxxx.Pxx (where x is variable characters), SR84511A.xxx.xxxx.Pxx, SR84510A.xxx.xxxx.Pxx, or RG84510A.xxx.xxxx.Pxx.  The BIOS prefix BF86510A, SR84511A, RG84510A and SR84510A are constant and specifically identifies the correct motherboard.  The BIOS version for the Profile 5 is identified as Pxx.865G.

4.  If this is correct, this is the correct graphics driver for your motherboard.  Press the F10 key to exit the BIOS Setup Utility.
 

Installation

1.  From the Start menu, click Run.

2.  In the Run dialog box, type the path and location of the file 9527020.exe (example: C:\Cabs\9527020.exe).  Click OK.  The files are extracted to the C:\Cabs\9527020 directory. 

3.  From the Start menu, click Run.

4.  In the Run dialog box, type the path for the Extreme Graphics driver setup file.  Unless directed elsewhere, the drivers should be located at: C:\Cabs\9527020\Setup.exe.

5.  In the Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for Intel(r) Extreme Graphics Driver dialog box, click Next. 

6.  In the License Agreement dialog box, click Yes.

7.  In the InstallShield Wizard Complete dialog box, select Yes, I want to restart my computer now, and then click Finish.

8.  The computer restarts automatically and the updated video drivers are installed and initialized.


Removal

Windows XP:

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, click Appearance and Themes, and then click Display.

3.  In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab.

4.  On the Settings tab, click Advanced.

5.  In the Monitor and Intel(r) 828xxx Graphics Controller dialog box, click the Adapter tab.

6.  On the Adapter tab, click Properties.

7.  In the Intel(r) 828xxx Graphics Controller Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab.

8.  On the Driver tab, click Uninstall.

9.  In the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK.

10.  In the System Settings Change dialog box, click Yes.

11.  The removal procedure is completed and the computer restarts.

Note:  The operating system automatically reinstalls the drivers upon restarting the computer. 

For Windows 2000:

1.  From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, double-click the Display icon.

3.  In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab.

4.  On the Settings tab, click Advanced.

5.  In the Monitor and Intel(r) 828xxx Graphics Controller dialog box, click the Adapter tab.

6.  On the Adapter tab, click Properties.

7.  In the Intel(r) 828xxx Graphics Controller Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab.

8.  On the Driver tab, click Uninstall.

9.  In the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK.

10.  In the System Settings Change dialog box, click Yes.

11.  The removal procedure is completed and the computer restarts.

Note:  The operating system automatically reinstalls the drivers upon restarting the computer. 


Troubleshooting

If you have difficulty installing the new driver, download the file again, and then perform the installation steps.


Reason for Update

This driver resolves some S-3 Power Management issues.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
