Overview

This is the Gateway D5 Streaming Media server software to work with the Gateway Connected DVD player.


Identification

The Connected DVD Player model number is ADC-220.


Installation

Download the D5Media21.exe file to the desktop, and then double-click it.  Files are extracted to the C:\Cabs\D5media21 folder and a copy of this readme.txt file opens.  If you are installing the software to the computer with the downloaded file, it can be installed from the hard drive.  If you are moving the software to another computer, it can be burned to a CD.

Two installation procedures follow.  One to upgrade existing D5 Streaming Media server software and one for a new installation of the software.  Follow the steps for your situation.

Upgrading the computer's existing D5 Streaming Media Software

1.  From the Start menu, click Run

2.  In the Run dialog box, type C:\Cabs\D5media21.exe.  Click OK.

Note: If you have burned the software to a CD, it may auto-run.  If the CD does not auto-run, from the Start menu, click Run, and then type D:\D5MediaServer.exe (where D: is the drive letter of the CD/DVD drive).  Click OK.

3.  In the Gateway d5 Streaming Media Server window, click INSTALL Streaming Media Server Software.

4.  In the Select Language dialog box, select English, Francais, or Espanol, and then click OK.

5.  In the Gateway D5 Streaming Media Server dialog box, to remove the previous version of the software, click Yes.

6.  In the Save User Settings dialog box, to save the user database click Yes.  To delete the user database, click No. 

7.  In the Gateway D5 Streaming Media dialog box, click Next.

8.  In the Registration Information dialog box, type CD key: 1010200086490248, and then click Next.

9.  In the License Agreement dialog box, after reading the information, if you agree, click Accept.

10.  In the Destination Location dialog box, click Next.

11.  If you have more than one network adapter, you may be prompted to select an adapter to use for the Server.  After selecting the appropriate adapter, click OK.

12.  The Gateway D5 Streaming Media dialog box states that the installation was successful.  Click Finish.

13.  The program starts automatically.

New installation of the D5 Streaming Media software

1.  From the Start menu, click Run

2.  In the Run dialog box, type C:\Cabs\D5media21.exe.  Click OK.

Note: If you have burned the software to a CD, it may auto-run.  If the CD does not auto-run, from the Start menu, click Run, and then type D:\D5MediaServer.exe (where D: is the drive letter of the CD/DVD drive).  Click OK.

3.  In the Gateway d5 Streaming Media Server window, click INSTALL Streaming Media Server Software.

4.  In the Select Language dialog box, select English, Francais, or Espanol, and then click OK.

5.  If you do not have MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components) installed, a Wise Installation System dialog box appears and prompts you to install MDAC.  Click OK.  If this dialog box does not appear, skip to step 7.

6.  When MDAC installation is complete, in the Wise Installation System dialog box, to restart the computer and restart the Media Server installation, click OK.

7.  In the Gateway D5 Streaming Media dialog box, click Next.

8.  In the Registration Information dialog box, type CD key: 1010200086490248, and then click Next.

9.  In the License Agreement dialog box, after reading the information, if you agree, click Accept.

10.  In the Destination Location dialog box, click Next.

11.  If you have more than one network adapter, you may be prompted to select the adapter to use for the Server.  After selecting the appropriate adapter, click OK. 

12.  The Gateway D5 Streaming Media dialog box states that the installation was successful. Click Finish.

13.  The software starts.


Program Use

By default, the software starts automatically upon startup and after installation.  A CD icon with a lightning bolt titled Gateway D5 Streaming Media Server is added to the systray on the task menu.  To open the program, click the icon once.


Removal

1.  From the Start menu, point to Programs (or All Programs), Gateway D5 Streaming Media Server, and then click Uninstall Gateway D5 Streaming Media Server.

2.  In the Uninstall D5 Media Server dialog box, click Yes.

3.  In the Save User Settings dialog box, to save the user database click Yes.  To delete the user database, click No.

4.  The program is removed automatically with no further notification.  Restart the computer before any other changes are made. 


Troubleshooting

If you have problems with the installation, download the file again and perform the installation again.  If you burned the software to a CD, you may need to burn another copy to a different disc.

If you had a previous version of the D5 software installed on your computer and you have difficulties installing this version, verify the previous software was removed, and then delete the folder it was installed to (usually C:\Program Files\Digital 5 Streaming Media).


Reason for Update

Version 2.1 B07-08 increases the number of files the database can see at one time, and adds support for other types of media.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
