Overview

This is the Gateway D5 Streaming Media server software to work with the Gateway Connected DVD player. This file also includes the newest available firmware for the connected DVD player. 

Identification

The Connected DVD player model number is ADC-220 or ADC-320.  For the firmware, if you are already running this version or newer, you will see the version number as soon as you enter setup.  If you are running an older version of the player’s firmware. you can verify the version by using the following steps:  

1.  At the DVD splash screen, on your remote control, press 83245.  

2.  On the Player Information page, the Digital5 Version line provides the current firmware version number.


Installation

Download the file to the desktop, and then double-click the 7514322.exe file.  Files extract to the C:\Cabs\7514322 folder, and this readme.txt file opens.  If you are  
installing the software to the computer with the downloaded file, it can be installed from the hard drive.  If you are transferring it to another computer, it can be  
burned to a CD.

Use the following steps if you are upgrading your existing D5 Streaming Media software.

1.  If you are installing from the hard drive, from the Start menu, click Run.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\7514322\D5MediaServer.exe.  Click OK.

If you have burned the software to a CD, installation should begin automatically when you place the CD in the CD/DBD drive if Autorun is enabled.  If the CD does not automatically begin, from the Start menu, click Run.  In the Run dialog box, type: D:\D5MediaServer.exe (where d is the drive letter of your CD/DVD drive).  Click OK.

2.  Click INSTALL Streaming Media Server Software.

3.  Select the desired installation language, and then click OK.

4.  In the Gateway D5 Streaming Media Server dialog box, click Yes to remove the previous version of software.

5.  In the Save User Settings dialog box, you are prompted Do you want to save the user database? Click Yes to save the user database, or click No to delete the user database. 

6.  In the Welcome to Gateway D5 Streaming Media Setup program dialog box, click Next.

7.  In the License Agreement dialog box, click Accept to accept the terms of the license agreement.

8.  Type the CD key in the appropriate field, DOBK-EUAA-0ZAG-F5CJ, and then click Next.

9.  In the Destination Location dialog box, click Next.

10.  If you have more then one network adapter, you may be prompted for which adapter you will use for the Server.  Select the appropriate choice, and then click Next.

11.  Files copy.  

12.  Installation is complete.  In the Gateway D5 Streaming Media dialog box, click Finish.

13.  A dialog box may prompt you to restart the computer.  Click OK.

14.  The software starts when the computer restarts.

Use the following steps if you are installing the software for the first time, or the computer does not have D5 Streaming Media currently installed.

1.  If you are installing from the hard drive, from the Start menu, click Run.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\7514322\D5MediaServer.exe.  Click OK.

If you have burned the software to a CD, installation should begin automatically when you place the CD in the CD/DBD drive if Autorun is enabled.  If the CD does not  
automatically begin, from the Start menu, click Run.  In the Run dialog box, type: D:\D5MediaServer.exe (where d is the drive letter of your CD/DVD drive).  Click OK.

2.  Click INSTALL Streaming Media Server Software.

3.  Select the desired installation language, and then click OK.

4. If you do not have Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) installed, a "Wise Installation System. This installation requires MDAC to be installed (or reinstalled) on your system.  The installation of MDAC requires a reboot before the application installation can begin." dialog box displays.  Click OK.

5.  When you have completed installing MDAC, the Wise Installation System dialog box displays again, prompting that MDAC 2.7 has been successfully installed.  A message "The system must reboot now in order to finish the installation.  The application installation will start automatically after the reboot" displays.  Click OK.

6.  If MDAC is installed, the computer restarts.  If necessary, log back onto your computer.

7. The installation should start on its own again.  If it does not automatically start, from the Start menu, click Run.  In the Run dialog box, type either: 
C:\Cabs\7514322\D5MediaServer.exe or D:\D5MediaServer.exe (where D is the drive letter of your CD/DVD drive), and then click OK.   Choose whichever option is applicable for the installation method selected in step 1. 

8.  Select the desired installation language, and then click OK.

9.  In the Welcome to Gateway D5 Streaming Media Setup program dialog box, click Next.

10.  In the License Agreement dialog box, click Accept to accept the terms of the license agreement.

11.  Type the CD key in the appropriate field, DOBK-EUAA-0ZAG-F5CJ, and then click Next.

12.  In the Destination Location dialog box, click Next.

13.  If you have more then one network adapter, you may be prompted for which adapter you will use for the Server.  Select the appropriate choice, and then click Next.

14.  Files copy.  

15.  Installation is complete.  In the Gateway D5 Streaming Media dialog box, click Finish.

16.  A dialog box may prompt you to restart the computer.  Click OK.

17.  The software starts when the computer restarts.


Firmware upgrade for the Gateway Connected DVD Player.

Note: This firmware upgrade only needs to be completed one time on the Gateway Connected DVD Player. 

1.  Burn the files within the C:\Cabs\7514322 folder onto a blank, formatted CD-R; using whichever method you have available to do so.

2.  Turn on the TV and the Gateway Connected DVD player. 

3.  Place the Gateway Connected DVD Player Firmware Upgrade CD in the DVD player. 

4.  The disc autoruns, and a menu appears on the TV.

5.  Use the DVD player remote control to select Full Upgrade, and then press Enter.

6.  The firmware update runs.

7.  When the firmware update is complete, the disc tray opens automatically.

8.  Remove the CD, turn off the DVD player, and then turn it on again to complete the firmware upgrade. 


Program Use

The software should automatically start on startup and after installation.  A CD icon with a lightning bolt is located in the systray (by the time on the Start bar).  If you hover your mouse cursor over the icon, a message box should display, showing Gateway D5 Streaming Media Server.  If you click once on the icon, the software opens on your desktop.


Removal

1.  From the Start menu, point to Programs or All Programs, depending on your setup and operating system.

2.  Point to Gateway D5 Streaming Media Server, and then click Uninstall Gateway D5 Streaming Media Server.

3.  An Uninstall D5 Media Server dialog box displays, prompting "Are you sure you want to uninstall the D5 Media Server application from your computer?" Click Yes.

4.  A Save User Settings dialog box displays, prompting if you want to save the user database. Click Yes to save the user database or click No to delete the user database. 

5.  Removal is complete.  You should restart your computer before making any other changes. 


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulties with the installation, you may need to download the file again.  If you had burned the file to a CD, it may require you burning another CD.

If you had a previous version of the D5 software installed on your computer and you are having difficulties installing this version, verify that the previous software was removed, and then delete the directory that you installed it to, usually C:\Program Files\Digital 5 Streaming Media.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
