Overview

This installs the updated firmware for the Gateway DMP-X20 digital jukebox.


Identification

The Gateway DMP-X20 digital jukebox has a label on the bottom of the device identifying the device along with the serial number as a DMP-X20.  

To verify which firmware version you currently have, you can select the menu, scroll down to About, and then push the Scroll wheel.  This displays the firmware version number currently on the DMP-X20.

To verify which Service Provider version you currently have installed on your computer, open My Computer, click to open the C: drive, click Program Files, click Gateway, and then click WMDMSP.  In the WMDMSP folder, right click on the Gateway-DMP.dll file and click Properties.  In the Gateway-DMP.dll Properties window, click the version tab and check the File Version.


Installation

Download the file to the desktop, and then use the following steps for all operating systems.

Note: You must have Network Administrator privileges to install the driver software. 

1.  On the desktop, double-click the 9527243.exe file.  Files extract to the C:\Cabs\9527243 folder. 

2.  Close all open windows (except for this readme.txt file, if instructions are needed).

3.  From the Start menu, click Run.  In the Run dialog box, type C:\Cabs\9527243\

4.  Flash the DMP-X20 firmware to version 2.7.0.5.

 a. In the C:\Cabs\9527243\ folder, double click on the Firmware folder.
 b. Copy the firmware.bin and firmwareS.bin file inside the Firmware folder by pressing Edit and then Copy.
 c. Connect the DMP-X20 to the computer USB port.
 d. Browse the drive letter assigned to the DMP-X20.  It is most likely E:.
 e. Paste the firmware.bin and firmwareS.bin file into the root of the drive letter assigned to the DMP-X20 by pressing Edit and Paste.
 f. Unplug the DMP-X20 from the USB port and the firmware flash will begin.  Follow the on screen instructions.

5.  Remove the old Service Provider software from the computer.

 a.  Open Control Panel.
 
 *  If you are using the Windows XP default Start menu, from the Start menu, click Control Panel.
 *  If you are using the Classic Start Menu, from the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

 b.  In Control Panel, open Add or Remove Programs.

 *  If you are in Category View, click Add or Remove Programs.
 *  If you are in Classic View, double-click Add or Remove Programs.

 c.  In the Add or Remove Programs window, click DMP-X20, and then click Change/Remove.
 d.  Files remove.
 e.  In the Maintenance Complete dialog box, click Finish.
 f.  In the Add or Remove Programs window, click Gateway DMP Service Provider, and then click Change/Remove.
 g.  Files remove.
 h.  In the Maintenance Complete dialog box, click Finish.

6.  Install new Service Provider software version 2.0.3.7 on the computer.

 a.  In the C:\Cabs\9527243\ folder, double-click the Service Provider folder.
 b.  In the Service Provider folder, double-click Setup.exe.
 c.  In the InstallShield Wizard dialog box, click Next.
 d.  In the InstallShield Wizard dialog box, click Finish.


Program Use

Once installed, this file updates your DMP-X20 digital jukebox firmware and Service Provider software.


Removal

The firmware cannot be removed.  To remove the Service Provider software, follow the steps below:

1.  Open Control Panel.

 *  If you are using the Windows XP default Start menu, from the Start menu, click Control Panel.
 *  If you are using the Classic Start Menu, from the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, open Add or Remove Programs.

 *  If you are in Category View, click Add or Remove Programs.
 *  If you are in Classic View, double-click Add or Remove Programs.

3.  In the Add or Remove Programs window, click DMP-X20, and then click Change/Remove.

4.  Files remove.

5.  In the Maintenance Complete dialog box, click Finish.

6.  In the Add or Remove Programs window, click Gateway DMP Service Provider, and then click Change/Remove.

7.  Files remove.

8.  In the Maintenance Complete dialog box, click Finish.


Troubleshooting

If you have trouble installing these updates, verify that the DMP-X20 AC adapter is plugged in and try the process again following the steps listed in the Installation section of this document.  If you are still unable to install these updates, contact technical support.


Reason for Update

This is the latest firmware qualified for the Gateway DMP-X20 20GB Jukebox Player.  This firmware resolves issue number 2-1425897601, where the Gateway DMP-X20 Digital Jukebox Player may stop responding when trying to play at bookmarks.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
