Overview

This is the network driver for the Gateway(r) Luxemburg, South Lake, and South Lake 2 motherboards.

Note: Drivers for other operating systems are also provided within this archive.  However, Gateway has not tested and does not support the drivers with these other operating systems.  If installed on a computer running one of these operating systems, the drivers may not be compatible with some programs on your computer.  Contact the affected program's publisher for more information.


Identification

To confirm that this is the correct network driver update for your desktop computer, follow these steps:

If the computer is turned off:

1.  Turn on the computer.  On your keyboard, repeatedly press the F1 key to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.

2.  In the BIOS Setup Utility, on the Main tab, look for the BIOS version line.  The version needs to list SE91510J.xxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx (where x = variable characters identifying the version of BIOS currently loaded).  The BIOS prefix SE91510J is constant and specifically identifies the correct motherboard.

3.  If the BIOS prefix is SE91510J, this is the correct audio driver for your computer.  Press the F10 key to exit the BIOS  
Setup Utility.

If the computer is turned on and in Windows:

1.  From the Start menu, click Shut Down.  In the Shut Down Windows dialog box, select Restart, and then click Yes.

2.  As soon as the computer restarts, on your keyboard, repeatedly press the F1 key to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.

3.  In the BIOS Setup Utility, on the Main tab, look for the BIOS version line.  The version needs to list SE91510J.xxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx (where x = variable characters identifying the version of BIOS currently loaded).  The BIOS prefix SE91510J is constant and specifically identifies the correct motherboard.

4.  If the BIOS prefix is SE91510J, this is the correct audio driver for your motherboard.  Press the F10 key to exit the  
BIOS Setup Utility.


Installation

Download and double-click the file (Marvell827.exe).  Files self-extract and copy into the C:\Cabs\Marvell827 folder on the  
hard drive.

1.  Open Control Panel.

 *  If you are using the Windows XP default Start menu, from the Start menu, click Control Panel.
 *  If you are using the Classic Start Menu, from the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, open System.

 *  If you are in Category View, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click the System icon.
 *  If you are in Classic View, double-click the System icon.

3.  In the System Properties window, click the Hardware tab.  

4.  On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.

5.  In Device Manager, click the plus sign (+) next to Network adapters.

Note: If a network driver is already installed, it is listed under Network adapters.  If a driver is not already loaded, it is listed under Other.

6.  Click the network adapter, and then from the Action menu, click Properties.

7.  In the Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver. 

Note: If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), please follow steps 8 through 11.   If you are not running SP2, please follow the instructions provided by the operating system to locate the driver, following the below option selections as closely as possible.

8.  In the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, click to select Install from a list or specific Location (Advanced).  Click Next.

9.  Browse to the C:\Cabs\Marvell827 folder, and then click Next.

10.  In the InstallShield Wizard Complete dialog box, click Finish.

11.  Click Finish to restart the computer. 


Removal

1.  Open Control Panel.

 *  If you are using the Windows XP default Start menu, from the Start menu, click Control Panel.
 *  If you are using the Classic Start Menu, from the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, open System.

 *  If you are in Category View, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click the System icon.
 *  If you are in Classic View, double-click the System icon.

3.  In the System Properties window, click the Hardware tab.  

4.  On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.

5.  In Device Manager, click the plus sign (+) next to Network adapters.

6.  Click to select the network adapter, and then from the Action menu, click Uninstall. 


Troubleshooting

1.  Run Network Diagnostics to help determine the network configuration difficulty.

 a.  From the Start menu, point to All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then click System Information. 
 b.  In the System Information window, from the Tools menu, click Net Diagnostics.
 c.  In the Help and Support Center window, click Scan your system.
 d.  The results are shown.  Click the plus sign (+) next to Network adapters for additional information. 

2.  Verify whether the link light on the back of the network card is lit.  If not, reseat the cable.  If the light is still not lit, check the cable and the port on the hub or contact your network administrator.

3.  Download the file again, and then perform the installation steps.


Reason for Update

This is to resolve active directory domain issues and issues with switches going into protection mode and shutting down the port.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
