This firmware may help the Lite-On 48x 24x 48x Recordable/Rewritable CD-RW Drive be able to better read and write to CD-R or CD-RW media with a blue tint. This firmware is not used on any other CD-RW drives. This is a Windows-based firmware flash. Identification This resolves a problem with writing and reading of CDR and CDRW media that has a blue tint to the data area of the disc. This update should be performed under the following circumstances: 1. The symptoms listed in the Overview section of this document apply. 2. A Gateway technician suggested updating the firmware on the CD-RW drive. 3. A qualified technician suggested updating the firmware on the 5502801 drive. Installation Note: Remove all media from any optical drive and do not turn the computer off while the firmware update is being installed. 1. Locate and double-click 5502801.exe to extract the files to the C:\Cabs\5502801 folder on your hard drive. 2. From the Start menu, click Run. In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\5502801\PGS3.exe. Click OK 3. In the Flash Update for LITE-ON LTR-48327S dialog box, click Yes to continue. 4. Ensure that the Target drive is Lite-on LTR-48327S. 5. In the Flash Update for LITE-ON LTR-48327S dialog box, click Update. 6. The progress monitor displays 100% at the bottom of the update window. 7. In the Flash Update for LITE-ON LTR-48327S dialog box, click OK. 8. Click Close 9. The firmware update is complete. Removal There is no removal procedure. Troubleshooting Verify that the drive has power by opening and closing the drive door. Reseat the IDE cable. Reseat the power connector on the back of the drive. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
