SANSurfer Version 2.07.50 Release
50142-07 Rev. H
System Overview
_______________
Thank you for using the QLogic SANSurfer Application to manage your QLogic
SANBox family of Fibre Channel switch products. These notes describe
Release 2.07.50 of the SANSurfer Application.
The QLogic SANSurfer Application is Java-based and on Windows operates with
Netscape 4.6 and Internet Explorer 5.0 with Release 5.0.0.3309 or Release
5.0.0.3167 of the Java VM Windows 95/98/NT. It also operates as a Java
Application on Solaris 2.8 and 2.7. JRE version 1.2.2_05a is required on
Solaris.
Version 2.07.50 is a corrective code release of the Gui. It contains no new
features, but is substantially more stable than Version 2.07.39.
Two significant user interface changes will be apparent in this release:
1) The Fabric window now shows only a single fabric line. The system
administrator will enter one fabric and its IP address on the "Fabric" screen.
If the user wishes to save this fabric for subsequent viewing and configuration,
the user pulls down the file menu and chooses "save as". The user follows these
steps for each fabric of interest. The user can easily track multiple fabrics
from one installation of the Gui. To switch among fabrics, the administrator
uses the file menu and loads in turn, the file of interest.
2) A busy cursor will appear upon entering each window, which will prevent the
user from performing any operation which would make the Gui unstable as a result
of having incomplete data at the time the operation was requested.

________________________________________________________________
2.07.40
1) Fixed bug #915 -- Add generic failure message to faceplate display when a
faceplate parameter change is rejected by the switch for any reason.

2.07.48
1) Changes to prevent continuous beeping when Gui can't talk to switch.
2) Changed all "Ancor" strings to "QLogic".
3) Asks user if he wants to reset switch after changing stage type, so
you don't have to go back and do it yourself.
4) Fix so that when you drill into a port when in HUB mode, you get it
showing up as SL_PORT, not Unknown.
5) Fix for disappearing devices in tree on topology.
6) Fix for unnecessary reset.
7) Fix gray out next/prev buttons on zoning window after a window resize.
8) Fixed a bug in delete zone for SL zoning where the shift-up of zones
didn't work correctly.
9) Fixed a bug in Clear/Delete All Zones in SL zoning that left some ports
in zones.
10) Put a title on File Load/Save Dialog boxes.
11) Clear up problem with filenames ending in "*default.fab".
12) Fix null ptr exception when zeroing port counts in faceplate.
13) Make status field at bottom 2 lines high so msgs don't get cut off.
14) Fixes for saving/restoring zoning templates for SL zoning.
15) Reduced number of line breaks in some error/warning messages.
16) Fixed status msgs that appear at bottom of screen.
17) Fixed loopback testing.
18) Fixed "No reply from switch" msg remaining at bottom of fabric screen
even when switch is accessible.
19) Fixed a null ptr problem.
20) Fixed a Gui hang problem relating to dialog boxes & busywait cursor.
21) Explicitly send additional "stop test" util msg to make sure loopback
testing stops when user clicks on StopTest icon.
22) Allow user to specify test length, frame size, and pattern for loopback
testing.
2.07.49
1) Fixes for loopback testing problem where Gui would fail to pop up testing
window after a previous test completed (TEST_OUTOFTIME).
2) Disallow simultaneous testing on multiple ports.
3) Change Zoning to fix problem where Gui hangs when user accesses the pulldown
choice boxes while screen is redrawing.
4) Change made in Faceplate to prevent loss of device login when changing
port on/offline or changing from fabric to SL.
5) Made a change to fix problem with zoning where ports previously clicked on
get added to the zone, even though they are not highlighted as being selected
at the time of the APPLY.
6) Fixed problem of not being able to remove a port from a zone(with SL zoning).
7) Fixed problem with polling thread. This clears up two bugs:
#1306 "Save complete, but failed writing to 1 switch"
#1312 "A switch has failed to respond during the zoning operation. Zoning
operation failed."
8) Fixed bugs #1202 & 1310 -- No longer printing out "Exception caught
java.io.InvalidClassException: MKII.Switch; Local class not compatible..."
This is the result of a newer version of Gui reading in a fabric file created
by an older version of the Gui, and does not cause a problem for the user.
9) Fixed bug #1315 -- When user tries to load a zoning template from an 8 port
into a 16 port or vice versa and would then get an error msg repeated many
times. Now user should only see error msg once.
10) Fixed bug #1304 -- Enabled beacon menu option in faceplate even if switch is
in Hub mode.
11) Fixed bug #1323 -- After clearing all zones, should no longer see "add to
zone" text under Orphan zone. Also related to this bug, fixes were made so
that you should be able to add ports to several zones before hitting apply,
and they should all be saved.
12) Fix related to bug #1315 -- Gui should no longer allow zoning templates from
an 8 port switch to be saved to a 16 port switch (or vice-versa). Side
effect of this change is that zoning templates created with older versions
of the Gui will now be incompatible with zoning templates created from this
version and its successors.
13) Fixed bug #1320 -- Put up a msg and a busy cursor while trying to resolve IP
addr in the fabric window.
14) Fixed bug #1311 -- If you hit Cancel on the testing parameters dialog, you no
longer have to click on StopTests icon to change its state. Also, no longer
have to click on StopTests to remove test results window after test
completes. Next refresh will do that. Still prevents user from leaving Port
window while test is running- that is necessary to prevent other problems.
15) Fixed bug # 1269 -- Now catching an exception that would get thrown when user
tried to delete multiple users at once. It only works to remove a single user
at a time.
16) Fixed bug #1169 -- Gui now forces expected suffixes on the end of filenames.
For example, if you save a zoning template, the Gui will append .tpl to the
filename. You should see all *.tpl files when you try to restore a zoning
template. You will NOT see all the files in the directory running on the Sun
unless you click on Update, but that is expected. You should see any *.tpl
files if there are any present.
17) Fixed bug #1320 -- Additional modification made to disable toolbar buttons
while Gui is trying to resolve IP address.
18) Fixed bug #1369 -- Change made to correct problem where "Clear All Zones"
does not work for Name Server, Broadcast, and Hard Zones.
19) Fix bug where the Done button on the zone description edit window became
inoperative after user uses Back toolbar button to leave zoning with edit
window open amd then returns to zoning. A minor related fix prevents user
from changing to other zones while the zone description edit window is open.
20) Online help has been updated to reflect Gui changes.
21) Fix problem where busy cursor did not prevent user from accessing zone type
pulldown after first entering zoning screen.
22) Fixed bug #1392 -- Disable next/prev buttons on topology screen because it
only allows a single fabric.
23) Prevent a null pointer exception when a user enters an invalid loop back
testing parameter the first time testing is started.
24) Rebuilt the Fabric.gif file for QLogic.
25) Prevent a null ptr exception from being thrown when changing stage type on
a switch.
26) Changed string on login screen from "Username" to "User Name".
27) Changed "switch no longer appears to be in fabric" msg so that it should
show up on a single line, and not get cut off the display.
28) Fixed bug #794 -- Proxy server is not getting newest Gui files.
