\HELP\WINXP\WINXP.TXT NETGEAR FA511 CardBus Notebook Adapter ------------------------------------- Driver Installation for Microsoft Windows XP -------------------------------------------- Introduction ------------ Windows XP provides a complete "Plug n' Play" System that will automatically recognize and configure most PC Cards. Before inserting your FA511 adapter, the system's PCMCIA/CARDBUS chipset must be enabled and functioning. The PCMCIA/CARDBUS chipset is responsible for controlling the systems interface for PC Cards. Please consult the system's manual or manufacture for use with Windows XP. Please have the installation media for the Windows XP ready for any request for files. Installation Procedure ---------------------- With the system off, remove all PC Cards Start/Boot Windows XP Insert the FA511 into one of the system's PCMCIA Slots A "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box should appear, see troubleshooting if the dialog box doesn't appear. Click Next icon. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device(recommended)" and Click Next icon. Select "CD-ROM drivers" and Click Next icon and Windows XP will begin searching for FA511 inf files. After finding the matching inf files, Click Next icon and Windows XP will copy driver for FA511. Click Finish. Reboot the computer (Optional). Add LAN protocols ----------------- Open the MY COMPUTER Run Network Connections Click Local Area Connection and Select File/PropertiesDownload Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
