  NDIS driver installation in LANtastic 6.0
  -----------------------------------------
  To install the FA510 NDIS driver for Artisoft LANtastic 6.0 follow
  these steps. You can install the driver from either the DOS prompt or
  Windows.

  DOS Prompt
  ----------
  1.  Insert Artisoft's LANtastic Disk 1 in the floppy disk drive.
  2.  Type: A:INSTALL [Enter]
      Windows launches and starts the installation of LANtastic.
  3.  Go to Step 5 under the following "Windows" procedure and continue
      with the remaining steps.

  Windows
  -------
  1.  Launch Windows, if it is not already opened.
  2.  Select Run from the File menu.
  3.  Type: A:INSTALL [Enter]
      If you are using a different drive, use the letter for that
      drive.
  4.  Following the instructions and enter the required information.
  5.  Select NDIS Support for Network Adapters in the Select Network
      Adapter window.
  6.  When prompted, remove the LANtastic diskette, insert the NETGEAR
      FA510 Cardbus Card Drivers and Diagnostics disk, type "A:\NDIS2DOS",
      and press [Enter].
      The NDIS driver is copied to your hard drive from the Drivers and
      Diagnostics disk.
  7.  When prompted, remove the LANtastic diskette, insert the
      LANtastic Disk 1 in floppy disk drive.
  8.  Follow the instructions and enter the required information about
      your PC name and configuration.

  The driver installation is complete.

  Known Limitation
  ----------------
    Since Artisoft LANtastic does not provide support for Cardbus and the
    Cardbus enabler comes from the FA510 Cardbus driver, you cannot use
    the FA510 Cardbus Card with another PCMCIA device.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
