             Driver Installation for Microsoft Windows 98

  Getting Started
  ---------------
  First, please refer to the Installation Guide for complete installation
  instructions.  When installing the adapter onto your computer, make sure
  the USB port has Series "A" connector.

  The Windows 98 installation disks or CD may be needed to complete the
  installation.

  Installation Procedure
  ----------------------
  1.  Power on the computer system.

  2.  Plug the Model EA101 USB adapter into the USB port of host computer.

  3.  When the Win98 system asks for the driver, make sure tha you select
      "Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)."

  4.  In the next screen when Win98 "searches for driver", please make
      sure that "Floppy disk drivers" is selected and enter "A:\" in
      the Specify a location entry field.

      While on the same screen, insert the driver diskette.  Then click on
      Next to go on to the next screen.


  5.  Then the system will copy the necessary driver files.

  6.  Provide the Win98 CD-ROM or the drive path where Win98 files reside
      when asked to do so.

  7.  Reboot the system and check into the Device manager to confirm that
      the Model EA101 card is working properly.

  8.  Add other network protocols or network services when needed.
                                           

  Explanation of Advanced Parameters

    Specifies the IEEE Ethernet address to be used by the
    Adapter. Setting this parameter will override the value 
    specified in the serial ROM on the adapter card.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
