For a fast search of the Web - Use the WebSearch feature in the ICQ main window. Enter your search topic and click Go to select a web search engine from the extensive list available.
You can know when any user comes online with a unique global online alert blinking notice and sound.  Click the ICQ button, select Preferences. In the Contact List tab, check the Global Online Alert checkbox. Place a check mark in the Blink and Sound check boxes.
Do you need a reminder? Click the ICQ services button in the ICQ main window, select Reminder/New Reminder.
Need to check or send e-mail? Click the ICQ Services button in the ICQ main window. Select E-mail tab. Check for e-mail or send e-mail.
You can send a message by pressing the Control+Enter keys on your keyboard.
You can send a voice message to an online user. Click on the user in your contact list. Select More Services/Voice Message. Record your message and click send.
You can create and make available to other Internet users your personal ICQ Internet web pages. Click on the Services button in the ICQ main window. Select My ICQ Homepage tab/Customize Homepage.
You can send your World Wide Pager Address to a friend. Click on the System button in the ICQ main window. Select the Send My ICQ Page Address tab. Enter The e-mail address of your friend and click send e-mail.
You can review and reorganize all your incoming and outgoing events. Click on the ICQ button, select Message Archive. View and reorganize your archive according to your preferences.
Organize the contacts in your contact list into Groups of contacts. Click the ICQ button, select Windows/Alerts and check the Group Mode tab.
You can send an ICQ Greeting Card to a friend. Click on the User in your contact list and select More Services/Greetings Card. 
You can configure special sounds for incoming events from each specific user in your contact list. Click on the user in your contact list, select the Alert/Accept Modes tab. In the Alert tab click on the Setup Personal User Sounds button to configure your sounds.
Find online and offline users in the ICQ White Pages Directory. Click on the ICQ button, in the main window. Select the Add/Find Users tab/White Pages. Find ICQ user by name, location, personal information, interests, etc.
Search for people or e-mail address's on the World Wide Web. Click on the ICQ button in the main window. Select the Add/ Find Users/Search Other Directories. Insert a name or part of an e-mail address to search for in the LDAP directory.
You can access program menus either by the left or right mouse button. Click on the ICQ button in the ICQ main window. Select Preferences/Contact List tab. Check the Access Menu by left button check box if you would like to change the your access menus option.
You can customize the colors for your contacts and contact list background. Click on the ICQ button, select Preferences. In the Contact List tab, check the Customize Colors button. Customize different colors for you ICQ client window.
You can filter incoming events for objectionable words and phrases. Click on the ICQ button in the main ICQ window. Select the Security and Privacy tab/Words List. Enter words or phrases that are objectionable to you and click Save.
You can move users from one Group to another Group. Click on the user name in your contact list and drag the name to your preferred Group location.
You can always add more friends to your list by clicking "Add/Find Users" on your ICQ window.
You initiate events (like chat, file transfer, etc.) by clicking the mouse button on the desired party in your contact list.

You can serach for ICQ users using wildcards. For example, to search for a nickname beginning with 's' type s* in the nickname field.
Your computer will be periodically updated with the precise local time provided your country is written in the 'Country' box: ICQ Menu->(UnRegister/Listings-> View/Changes My Listings->Country.
You can appear invisible to a certain user at all times by clicking user and choosing repsonse settings->invisible to user, or by adding user's name to your invisible list in ICQ menu->security&privacy
You can rename a user name on your list in case of doubles by clicking user and choosing "rename".
Users who don't have ICQ can send you messages to your ICQ window using your WWpager address: http://wwp.icq.com/<Your ICQ#>. Print this address on your Business Card.
Users who don't have ICQ can send you messages to your ICQ window using their regular e-mail client by typing the following address in their 'to' field: <Your ICQ#>@pager.icq.com. Print this address on your Business Card.
You can send your contact list to another user by clicking user and choosing "send contact list".
You can search for ICQ users with common interests at: http://www.icq.com/mainsearch.html
You can enter your phone numbers and enable certain users to dial you with a click of an ICQ button by typing them in your ICQ preferences->telephone.
You can phone call a contact easily, provided the user made his/her number available to you, by clicking user and choosing "dial user". Pick up a receiver and hold it to the computer while ICQ tone dials the number.
You can find a random chat partner from the ICQ severs by accessing the ICQ preferences.
You can minimize your ICQ window but still "see" one or more specific users by clicking on the user and choosing "floating on" or by dragging user to your desktop.
You can choose to accept only "urgent" messages by changing your status to "DND" through the status menu on your ICQ window.

Click Cntrl_shift_a to close and open your ICQ window.
Click Cntrl_shift_i to double click a blinking ICQ tray icon.
Click Cntrl_shift_n to open an ICQ note. 
Click Cntrl_shift_s to search for material on the World Wide Web.
Click Cntrl_shift_c to check for incoming Email.
Click Cntrl_shift_e to send an email to a contact.
Click Cntrl_shift_f3 to find a certain user on your contact list.
