After running the file, "install.bat".

Merge "pht.reg" registry file by double clicking on it.  

This is done with the Permissions set to FULL for the one logged in for the registry.

              ***** WARNING *****
Do not make changes to anything in the registry manually.
Aways backup your registry before installing anything new.

Start
Run
REGEDT32
OK
Click on the + next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Click on the + next to SYSTEM 
Click on the + next to CurrentControlSet
Click on ENUM
Go to the Pulldown menu "Edit"  ( For Windows 2000 it is Security" )
Click on Permissions...
Check FULL CONTROL
Click OK
Double clicking on the "pht.reg" file will give you that option to merge the files.



Last thing is to "Enable legacy Plug and Play Detection" in the Device Manager | Ports | Printer Port | Port Settings.

Doing a right mouse click on "My Computer"
Click on Hardware
Click on Device Manager
Click on the + next to Ports
Double click on Printer Port
Click on Port Settings
Check off the box for "Enable legacy Plug and Play Detection" 
Click on OK

Restart the computer with drive attached and powered ON.



Possible things to check, if you do not see the drive in "My Computer" or Windows Explorer;
Is the parallel port mode on the computer set for EPP 1.7 or equivalent?
See your computer's user manual for help in getting to the CMOS/BIOS setup.
Was the unit powered on before the computer was turned on?
Are the connections good?  After powering down, please try removing the connections and then reconnect it after a few minutes.
Is it attached directly to the printer/parallel port?

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
