SiS Mini IDE (Ultra-DMA) Driver ReadMe.Txt for Win2000/XP This readme file is used to provide the information for installation, Install and Uninstall "SiS Mini IDE Driver". ============================================================================ The SiS Ultra-DMA IDE controller is a high performance Bus Master PCI IDE controller. This "SiS Mini IDE Driver" distribution floppy is used to utilize the DMA operation of your Hard disk/CD-ROMs drives in order to release the I/O loading from the CPU. You could refer to the related section to install the driver individually. This package include five parts. 1. WinXP/Win2000 Mini IDE driver: Which can support SiS ATA133 chipset. 2. IDE utility: Which can display the IDE device current mode and other information. 3. Property Page : show the same information as IDE utility. 4. SetupDMA (win9x/ME) :Enable IDE device DMA mode if IDE device supported. 5. Hdinfo (win9x/ME) :Set the device vendor name and current mode used in disk menu of system manager. CONTENTS *********************** 1) System Requirements 2) Windows 2000/Windows XP Driver 3) Package Version Identify 4) Silent Install Driver 5) Verifying Installation of the Driver 6) Notes 7) Limitation 1) System Requirements * This package should be installed on the SiS Bus Master IDE chipset, SiS630 or later, and others' chipset will not be supported. * The "SiS Mini IDE Driver" supports the following Operation System. Operation System Version ============================================================================ Windows 2000 2195 XP 5.1.2600.0 or above ============================================================================ 2) Windows 2000/ Windows XP Driver ************************* ** Driver Installation ** ************************* Click the SETUP.EXE program and select "Install" button then it will install the "SiS Mini IDE Driver" automatically on your Windows system. It will copy the driver to the \WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS and set the related registry tree. *************************** ** Driver Uninstallation ** *************************** You could remove the "SiS Mini IDE Driver" by selecting the "Uninstall" button. It will completely remove the driver from the sytsem. note:The MiniIde Driver can not uninstall SCSI miniport driver released before 2.00. 3) Package Version Identify The setup program will display the released data and version for this package. 4) Silent Install Driver Run setup/s for WinXP/WIN2k. 5) Verifying Installation of the Driver For Windows 2K/XP: 1. Open "Control Panel". 2. Select "Device Manager" from "Control Panel". 3. Check the "IDE controller" is "SiS Ultra DMA IDE Controller" or not. 4 If it is then your installation is successful. 6) Notes * It is recommended to install the CD-ROM which is not on the same channel with the hard drive for the performance issue. If you play VCD or DVD abnormally on some CD-ROM or DVD-ROM which is on the same channel with hard drive, we recommand you to setup the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM on the separatly channel. 7) Limitation 1.Windows 9x/ME/2000 will only support total disk size up to 128 GB limited by the designation of FAT32 file system.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
