o Installing Service Packs

When installing service packs, be sure to obtain the latest versions before 
installing.

o  Disabling IBM Internal Modem

If you are using an IBM Thinkpad that has an internal modem,
you may have to disable it in order to use your PCMCIA Modem card.
To do this go to ThinkPad Features and disable the internal modem.

o Application software

Some software may not detect the IBM V.90 PC Card Modem if 
the software was installed before the modem. Try un-installing
the application software and re-installing the software.

o Windows NT 4.0

If you are installing Windows NT 4.0, do not set up 
Remote Access Service (RAS) until after you have 
installed the IBM V.90 PC Card modem.

o Installing IGN on Windows NT 4.0 operating system.

Please install the IBM V.90 PC Card Modem before you install
the IBM Internet Global Network software. The IBM V.90 PC Card Modem
can not be installed using the IGN setup screen.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
