This document contains the following sections: -Installation -General -Driver Setting -Network Printing -PostScript Option (ZScript Driver) -Status Display -Application Compatibility <<Installation>> If you have the following printer drivers or older versions already installed on your system, please uninstall ALL OF THEM FIRST. Double Click "Zuninst.exe" in the unzipped files in Windows Explore. - PageWorks/Pro 18/18N Version 1.0.3.5 - PageWorks/Pro 18L Version 1.0.4.2 - PageWorks/Pro 25 Version 1.0.3.2 - Color PageWorks/Pro L Version 1.0.2.1 1. Insert the Minolta/QMS PagePro 4100W Driver Installer CD in your CD- ROM drive. The installation menu will automatically launch. Click GDI Printer Driver to install Minolta/QMS PagePro 4100W driver. Although your Windows PC may show that it has found a new device called "Minolta PageWorks/Pro 18L", please ignore the message by clicking on the "Cancel" button. If you do not want to see the Update Device Driver Wizard comes up every time when you power on your Windows98, you just need to continue clicking Next buttons in the Update Device Driver Wizard dialogs. 2. For best results, it is recommended that you must uninstall the current driver first, in order to upgrade a latest version of Minolta/QMS PagePro 4100W driver. Do remember that always restart your computer when uninstall is completed. 3. When your PC (Win95 & Win98) has Adobe PostScript driver installed, you may encounter an error message during the installation with PostScript Option selected. It is recommended that you click Ignore button to complete the installation. Clicking Retry will not take any action, and clicking Abort can exit the installation, then restart the driver installation again. <<General>> 4. If you install additional memory into the printer, this will be the available memory for your printer. <<Driver Settings>> 5. For best results when using Minolta/QMS PagePro 4100W, do not use the Separator Page from the printer driver properties. 6. When you want to print multiple copies with N-Up feature or Duplex feature selected, you need to uncheck Collate in the Print dialogue of the application that you are using. For best results when printing file with Duplex feature selected and the output is odd number of pages, it is recommended that you insert an extra page at the end with Header or Footer feature selected or by pressing Space bar. 7. For best results when printing color images or graphics, it is recommended that you use Black and White mode in some of application Print dialog or uncheck Print in Color check box in application Print dialog. 8. For best results when removing the Duplex option from Device Option tab, it is recommended that you first set Duplex feature to Default (Duplex Off) in Page Layout tab in Minolta/QMS PagePro 4100W driver properties. 9. To increase printer performance of complicate documents (especially printing with Duplex on or higher resolution selected), there are few solutions to this problem: 1) Close your Status Display during printing; 2) Increase your PC Virtual Memory from System properties in Control Panel; 3) Free up your Hard Disk space; 4) Add additional memory for your printer. 10. If you experience printing error by using ECP or Output Only with Micron PC system (Model Millennia Xku only), just change to other Parallel Port Mode from the BIOS setup. <<Network Printing>> 11. When you are printing Watermark settings other than Default settings within Windows 95/98 sharing printer environment, it is recommended that you change Spool Data Format to RAW in Spool settings of Minolta/QMS PagePro 4100W driver properties section. 12. When you install driver and plan to connect it to printer by using peer-to-peer (P2P) port, always install Minolta/QMS PagePro 4100W driver to LPT port first, then install peer-to-peer (P2P) utility. 13. When you install Network Printer, it is recommended that you select Local Printer and LPT port first during installation (but don't print the Test Page yet), then change your appropriate Network port from driver properties. Now you can print the Test Page to check the settings. If you are in Novell NetWare Print Server base environment, always install Client for NetWare Networks (Novell NetWare Client 32) first before installing NetWare printer. 14. For best data transfer speed when you want to print by using NetWare Print Server from Windows NT 4.0, it is recommended that you uninstall peer-to-peer (P2P) utility first. You can use Add/Remove Programs from Windows Control Panel to uninstall IP-P2P utility; but always uses uninstall feature from directory of IPX-P2P utility. 15. For best results when printing Microsoft Word through Network Printer, it is recommended that you change Spool Data Format to RAW in Spool settings of Minolta/QMS PagePro 4100W driver properties section. 16. There are a few ways to Print to File through Network Printer: 1) Attaching a local printer and set to LPT port, then select Print to File check box; 2) Disable Bi-Directional Support for the printer in Spool Settings; 3) Install second printer driver that has selected to Port File. <<PostScript Option (ZScript driver)>> 17. Due to file size of Win.ini in a Windows environment, you may need to remove some of fonts in Win.ini file in order to install ZScript driver (PostScript Option) properly. 18. For best results when you want to use ZScript driver (PostScript Option), it is recommended that you change printing settings from GDI driver instead of ZScript driver (PostScript Option). <<Status Display>> 19. For best results, it is recommended that you Exit the Status Display from File menu when you encounter incorrect messages display in the Status Display, then re-open the Status Display from Minolta Printer Utilities directory in order to get correct behavior. 20. If you experience broken bitmap in Status Display with Number 9 Video Card installed in your PC system, just change the Color Palette to lower number of colors from Display Properties in Control Panel. 21. If print jobs stop during multiple copies printing with Status Display activate, it is recommended that you close the Status Display first, then you can press Action Key until all LEDs lit, or power off and on the printer and continue to proceed the print jobs. And also you can add more memory to printer. <<Application Compatibility>> 22. Many application programs have their own Print dialog box controls for common printer settings, such as paper size, orientation, paper tray, number of copies, etc. Usually when applications have their own settings they will override the values set in the Print dialog box. If the settings you select in the application Print dialog are being ignored, then make changes in the printer driver dialog box; or for best results, be sure the setting are selected in both the application and the printer driver dialog box. For example in this case, you need to make changes from Minolta/QMS PagePro 4100W driver properties when printing file from Micrografx Designer. 23. Some applications do not support all Minolta/QMS PagePro 4100W features. Usually the application simply ignores the features, but in rare cases, a printing error may occur. For example in this case, do not use Scaling or N-Up from Minolta/QMS PagePro 4100W driver properties for CorelDraw, Corel Presentation, and MathCad. 24. In Microsoft Excel97 that it keeps its own printing settings for each worksheet in the file. Therefore, it is recommended that when you want to print Entire Workbook with your desire printing settings, you need to change all the settings from Page Setup in File menu for each worksheet. 25. For Windows95, there are some applications which have Printer button inside the Page Setup, such as WordPad or Paint, it is recommended to set Minolta/QMS PagePro 4100W as Default printer, or always go to Page Setup to select Minolta/QMS PagePro 4100W for printing.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
