Potential error messages 1. Explanation of updates Version 1.53 modifies the sleep time from 45 minutes to 30 minutes and allows for maintaining the value set to activate sleep mode. 2. Assumptions / necessary files After downloading and decompressing the files you should have the following files. - 1.bat, 2.bat, 3.bat, 4.bat, 5.bat, dlram.dlb, fontrom.dlb, ghm7402.dlb, m7402lut.dlb, x12em5e.dlb, readme.txt "this file" 3. Requirements for upgrade A PC running MS-DOS and connected to the PageWorks 12 via parallel cable. 4. Verifying that the firmware upgrade is needed. Before you continue, you should print a Config page on the PW-12 and verify that the Firmware version is earlier than 1.53. If the rom version is equal to or greater then 1.53 it is not necessary to proceed with the upgrade. To print a config page, take the printer offline by pressing the ONLINE button Press the MENU key until TEST PRINT is displayed on the LCD Press the ITEM key once or until CONFIG PRINT is displayed on the LCD Press the ENTER key once. The DATA light should begin to blink and the config page will be printed 5. How to configure the PageWorks 12 prior to upgrading the firmware Press and hold the MENU key and SELECT key at the same time & Turn on the printer. 6. How to download The PC should already be powered on and running in dos mode. The PageWorks 12 should be powered and the LCD should indicate "Tmax Downloader Ready" The batch files 1 through 5 must be sent to the printer in succession. A. Type 1 and press ENTER "The PC should begin to copy data to the printer" B. The LCD panel on the PageWorks 12 should go through the following cycle. Tmax Downloader Ready "Prior to copying the files" Downloading Erase XX Write XXXXXXXX Complete Tmax Downloader Ready C. Once Download Ready is displayed, Complete the same steps (A through C) for files 2 through 5, replacing the number 1 with 2,3,4, and 5. After all of the files have been downloaded and "Tmax Downloader Ready" is displayed on the LCD, turn the PageWorks 12 OFF and then ON again. 7. Verifying the update was successful To verify that the update was successful we suggest printing a Config sheet to verify that the firmware version indicates 1.53 and the POWER SAVE value is set to 30. To print a config page, take the printer offline by pressing the ONLINE button Press the MENU key until TEST PRINT is displayed on the LCD Press the ITEM key once or until CONFIG PRINT is displayed on the LCD Press the ENTER key once. The DATA light should begin to blink and the config page will be printed 8. Potential error messages If any of the following errors appear on the LCD panel, Turn OFF the printer once and then on again and begin the procedure from the very beginning. ERROR NO.1 Format error The wrong data is being transferred ERROR NO.2 Timeout Error The receipt of the data has taken more than a certain amount of time (time limits are set according to the number of the files to be downloaded) ERROR NO.3 Check Sum Error The sum of the data received is incorrect ERROR NO.4 Erase Error Flash Rom is not being erased properly ERROR NO.5 Write Error Data is written into the flash rom improperly ERROR NO.6 Compare Error The content of the Flash Rom is incorrectDownload Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
