                        MINOLTA-QMS PPD files for Microsoft Windows XP/2000/NT 4              
                        Installation
                        ============



This readme file lists the system requirements for the printer 
PPDs and then describes how to install them. 


Requirements
---------------------------
The PPD files for Windows XP/2000/NT4 require the 
following:

- Windows XP, 2000 or Windows NT 4 Service pack 4 or higher installed

- Windows PostScript Printer Driver


Installation
--------------------------------

 1 From the Start menu, select "settings", and then "Printers".
   This brings up the XP/2000/NT4 printers dialog.

 2 Select "Add Printer", in the "Add Printer Wizard" dialog select "My Computer"
   and then click "Next".

 3 Follow the instructions in the Add Printer Wizard.

 4 When you are prompted to select a manufacturer and printer, 
   choose "Have Disk".

 5 In the "Install From Disk" window, choose Browse...

 6 Change to the "x:\" <directory> directory, where "x" is your CD-ROM disk and
    <directory> is the PPD directory where this readme file resides .
   The file "minqms.INF" will be displayed in the File Name list.

 7 Select "minqms.inf" and choose OK to return to the Install 
   from Disk window.

 8 Choose OK again.
   A list of MINOLTA-QMS printers will be displayed in the Printers list.

 9 Select the appropriate printer, and then continue following the 
   instructions in the Add Printer Wizard to complete the installation.


Application Notes
============
N-UP PRINTING USING MICROSOFT WORD
Selecting N-up printing from the Microsoft Word application may result in incorrect output.  To avoid problems, choose N-up (Pages per Sheet) printing only in the printer driver and not in the Word application.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
