Technical Information and Known Limitations for the WIA and Minimal TWAIN Driver - hp scanjet 5530 April 22, 2004 INTRODUCTION ------------ The WIA and Minimal TWAIN driver is intended to be a very simple WIA/TWAIN interface to the hp scanjet 5530 scanner. User interface is kept to the absolute minimum possible. No scanning applications are provided; it is assumed that the user will provide the applications. WIA is supported only on Windows XP. WIA is fully supported, the same as the standard hp scanning solutions. TWAIN is supported minimally. Please read the Limitations section below. INSTALLATION ------------ Installation can be done either by installing the software or the hardware first. Either way, you must have Administrator privileges to install the driver. Software first: Execute Setup.exe in the base directory of the install package. After the setup completes, you may attach your scanner Hardware first: Attach the scanner. When the computer prompts for driver software, insert the CD. The installation will start automatically. When performing a Hardware First installation, the installation software MUST be on a CD, and the CD MUST have the volume name "hp_scanning". There is no provision for setting where the software will be installed. It ALWAYS is installed at C:\Program Files\HP\Scanners\Corporate1.0. SUPPORTED LANGUAGES ------------------- The supported languages are English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Dutch. LIMITATIONS ----------- The following are known limitations to the Minimal TWAIN driver. 1) X and Y resolution do not need to match. 2) X resolution settings are limited to these values: - 100, 200, 300, 400, 600, 800, 1200, 2400 2) Y resolution settings are limited to these values: - 100, 200, 300, 400, 600, 800, 1200, 2400, 4800 4) Only the TWAIN formats TWFF_BMP, TWFF_TIFF, and TWFF_JFIF are supported. 5) When installing Hardware First, the software MUST be on a CD, and the CD MUST have the volume name "hp_scanning".Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
