Please print and read these important installation instructions for updating the HP ScanJet 5s scanner software. This HP ScanJet 5s scanning software contains a gamma correction that will result in improved image quality. BEFORE INSTALLING THIS FIX, YOU MUST REMOVE THE ORIGINAL VERSION OF THE HP SCANJET 5S SCANNING SOFTWARE FROM YOUR PC. Removing the Original HP ScanJet 5s Scanning Software * Windows 3.1x: Double-click on the Uninstall icon in the ScanJet folder * Windows 95 and NT: Settings => Control Panel => Add/Remove Programs Icon In the Add/Remove Programs window, select HP ScanJet 5s. Click Add/Remove. The HP Uninstall Window appears. Click OK. Click OK again to restart your PC. You MUST restart your PC for the uninstall to be complete. Installing the Downloaded HP ScanJet 5s Scanning Software 1. * For Windows 3.1x, use File Manager to find the correct directory and open Disk 1. * For Windows 95 and Windows NT, My Computer => (Directory containing downloaded files) => Disk 1 => SetUp 2. Double-click on SetUp to launch the installation. 3. Follow the instructions on the screen to install the downloaded HP ScanJet 5s Scanning Software. 4. A dialog box, Enter Disk 1, prompting you to insert the disks for PaperPort will appear: * If you installed PaperPort as part of your original installation and PaperPort is ALREADY installed on your PC, click Cancel. Exit Setup. The installation of the updated HP Scanning Software is complete. You MUST restart your computer for the new HP Scanning Software to take effect. * If PaperPort IS NOT installed on your PC, you will need your original HP Scanning Software CD or diskettes. Insert the CD or floppy disk 1 into the appropriate drive. In the Location of PaperPort Disk 1 box: * If you are using floppy disks, type in a:\ (or the letter of your floppy drive). * If you are using a CD on Windows 3.1x or Windows 95, type in d:\ (or the letter of your CD-ROM drive)\paprport\disk1 * If you are using a CD on Windows NT, type in d:\ (or the letter of yourCD-ROM drive)\paprport\ver4\disk1 Press Enter. PLEASE NOTE: PaperPort Version 4.0 is ONLY compatible with Windows NT. DO NOT install Version 4.0 if you are running Windows 95 or Windows 3.1x. 5. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete installation. You will be prompted to restart your PC. Click OK and Finish to restart your PC and complete installation.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
